The High Mountain Court Novels & Stories

The grand courtroom of the High Council was carved into the heart of the mountain, a circular chamber with stone walls that seemed to swallow sound and breath alike. Torches flickered along the perimeter, casting long shadows on the floor below. In the center stood a raised dais, behind which sat five Alphas: each from a different pack, each bearing their own insignia on their chest. Their faces were hard, unreadable, as if carved from the very stone surrounding them.

I could have said no but how could I resist my mate's pleadings. "I promise." I wore a smile causing her lips to wear one too. We both alighted from my vehicle before reviewing the moderately built building rooted in front of us. The Greenville High Court was a place for most criminal cases to be judged if the Alpha wills, where the Elders, dignitaries, the plaintiff, the criminal and few Pack Members are gathered. The verdict is mostly passed by the Alpha and sometimes, alongside the Elders but this time, I already had my own verdict regardless of what anyone says. We stared at each other one last time as our fingers intertwined.

My phone buzzes with another text, I wonder what grandma has forgotten to tell me this time, I pull out my phone fully expecting to see my grans name so I am somewhat surprised when I see Jas name flash up on my screen I mean I didn't even know she had my number. Jas |It's official, we have just gotten word from the elders that you have been accepted as an official pack member welcome officially to High Moon pack. Luna is another matter all together as a newborn but you are doing great I have every faith that you will impress the council when the time comes. Much love darling, keep my boys in line xx

“Micah must go to prison!” “He is a r*pist! He must suffer for his crimes!” Their voices rang in my ears, growing louder, more aggressive. I could feel their judgment, their hatred. As I was pushed forward, my eyes locked onto the massive structure in front of me. It was a building I had never seen before. Mandena was such a big city that even I, who was born and raised here, had never been to every corner of it. But this building… I squinted against the glaring sunlight, and my gaze landed on the inscription above the doors: The Supreme Court of The Country of Manderin.

Lily said, her voice almost a whisper, “what if it’s the only way to fix this? They’re in so much trouble, and the charges are stupidly outrageous. If they’re convicted, it could mean exile… or worse.” Maya squeezed Lily’s hand tighter. “Don’t you dare think for a second that this is your responsibility alone. Ethan is playing games because he knows you care about them. He’s a coward who hides behind threats. And as much as I wish Lucas and Liam’s influence as Alpha twins could sweep this away, the High Moon Court was created to judge high-ranking wolves specifically so no one could use power to dodge justice.” Lily’s head dropped, her hair falling around her face. Her voice cracked.

The sky over the mountain peak bled a bruised, jagged purple, the color of a fresh wound. High above the timberline, the High Council’s tribunal stood upon the plateau, their voices rising in a synchronized, guttural chant that vibrated through the shale and granite. "Joshua of the lowlands," the High Elder roared, his voice amplified by the raw, crackling ozone of the mountain’s shifting magnetic field. "You have brought a poison into our bloodline. You have birthed an Abomination. By the laws of the ancient pack, we declare you forfeit. Your life is forfeit. The child’s life is forfeit."

And then, of course, my eyes catch her. His sneaky link. He actually brought her here. To court. Silence fills the room, the kind that a pin could drop and echo through the room. The heavy doors creak open, and a woman in a uniform, polished shoes, walks in. "All rise!" She's the bailiff, "The Court of the High Council is now in session, presided over by Honorable Judge Alexander Hale, chosen under the Moon's decree." Instantly, the courtroom stirs, chairs scrape, whispers die. I stand with the rest, my palms clammy, heart thudding so hard I can feel it in my throat.

Not a second inside the club, Damien and Daniel is nowhere to be seen, leaving me in a sea of strangers, dancing around touching each other. The club is filled with exclusive people, celebrities, and people with big bucks. Getting into this club is harder than the GMAT test, but the Kingsleys always have the golden ticket to go in. Not sure how I'm going to go through the night, I find myself sitting at the bar drinking iced tea, while the two devils are in the VIP section, popping bottles like a maniac with their friends I know nothing about. "You look awfully bored!" Nicole came out of nowhere, hugging me with full force, and I am just glad that she's finally here.

the one who sat beside me flashed me a smile, "She's turning two hundred today" My jaw dropped in shock. I finally realized who they were, "You're the witches of the high mountain" The one seated beside me cackled again, "Of the high mountain? Who named us that?!!" Her sister came forward with a stick and asked for my palm. I didn't hesitate. The witches of the high mountain were known to be deadly and wicked. Just the way they were laughing, giggling, and happy, they were also quick to get upset and lay curses on people.

Crimes like this attract many years sentences and he can't risk that. Today, the meeting dictated by the summon sent a few weeks ago to Alpha Peter is going to take effect, Casmien and Kelly are also invited as well. The Pack's family court is where the issue would be dealt with although I'm worried that they wouldn't honor whatever decision is given by the court. In our pack and in all the packs, the Supreme Court which is centralized is the highest and a dictate granted by the court if gone seven hours without response in terms of the action ordered would have the disobedient spending years in prison meant without any option of fine or alternative. For this, people do not joke with the jud
