The Inadequate Heir Novels & Stories

“What the hell are you talking about? I wasn’t shot in my manhood,” he shouted. The man was Brian William, first heir to his family fortune. Although he had been in elite education since a child and had always been taught to conceal his real emotions, Brian couldn’t help cursing as he spoke with this young physician. He put his hand to his forehead and took a deep breath to calm himself down. Brian couldn’t hurt this doctor. After all, he was the last doctor specializing in men’s health that Brian hadn’t visited.

It was a rather amusing scene. Canon burst out laughing and looked at Philip with pity in his eyes. “Oh Phil, you poor thing. Even your own mother-in-law doesn’t acknowledge you. What happened to your old spark and pride? Someone like you is not qualified to inherit the main family’s fortunes!” “Not qualified, you say?” Philip’s head was slightly lowered as he looked at Wynn on the couch. “True, I was not qualified to say that the past few years, but…”

The secrets. The things that don't make sense. The strange behavior. The disappearance of my parents. The feeling that something is terribly wrong back home. And now I have Amaani to protect. Maybe Lyall is her father. Maybe one day she'll have the title of heir because of him. Maybe someday I will walk through those doors willingly. But not today. I cannot risk her safety just because I miss the people I left behind. "Alright, little one." I reach down and gently touch her cheek.

The deep-seated historical feud dividing the two biological brothers tracks as an incredibly sad, tragic sight on the circuit. The exact instant Henry turns his shoulders to clear the portal, Ada monitors his retreating shadow from behind, and a sudden wave of ancestral compassion overrides his cold algorithm. "Your own hands must retain the entirety of the token funds generated from the property sale for your private vault, Henry. Refrain from letting your completely useless male heir drain those resources to zero!"

“You’re talking as if I'm not already trying my best.” “I'm sorry but you need to do more than you already are,” she said, her tone measured, calm. “You said it yourself—they won’t listen to you because you’re not blood, but Henry is. He’s the heir, the son. And according to the old codes, if the heir is a minor, the guardian of the heir stands in his place.” I stared at her, the gears in my mind grinding hard. “I already know that. If i didn't, would i be going out of my way to get a brat?” I asked a bit harsh.

she said confidently. John fell silent, reluctantly accepting her statement. He glanced at Henry and spoke cautiously, "So, Dad, since the results have been confirmed, who will take over as the new heir?" Henry's expression tightened, revealing his unease. "Don't forget, this baby has a heart defect and six fingers. If that becomes known, it will cast a shadow over our family. Besides, I can't provide a satisfactory explanation to anyone." To put it plainly, this child was not considered an acceptable heir.

She stood with crossed arms, looking disdainfully at what had become of her only son. "I always knew I had given birth to an idiot," she spat with disgust, indifferent to seeing him in such a fragile state, which always ended up making me cry inconsolably no matter how much I tried to hold back. "Since he was little, he was always like this, giving everything for others, doing senseless things, living life on the edge. I never thought he would become such an imbecile, but Jack always finds a way to exceed his own standards, which I find ridiculous. After 35 years, I still can't understand how I could have a son so mentally deficient." She nonchalantly tucked a rebellious strand of her brown

“You didn’t care about that before. Oh, my father must’ve told you that I would soon become the Marquis of House Adamantine” “I only heard the financial power of House Adamantine is in your hands. From my knowledge, that means about 30 percent of the wealth flow in the kingdom is in your hands. As a financial advisor for his majesty, I understand that your position is not to be looked down on” “You flatter me, your grace” “I know. It would be such a pity though if such great talent is lost under improper handling” “What….does your grace mean?” “It’s unfortunate that the current heir is not as capable as the head in his prime. If the head is not good, the ones under him would definitely suffe

“He wants you back as the heir, but there are many clauses to this. Firstly, since you lived in hiding, you lack the basic skills of a warrior and one of the major qualities of being an heir is what you lack” “If you come with us, you would undergo training and if you can hone your skills, you would take over immediately” My stomach tied a knot and their words intensified my anger as I stared at them in disbelief. Quinn continued. “Uncle wants you to know that you are his perfect late bloomer, and he loves you so much. But, there is also another clause to all of this” “If you want to take the position of the heir, you have to abandon your children”

“At what cost? If he has the ability to name any heir he likes, I doubt we’ll see any sort of change. It could just get worse.” “Not so quick, dear,” he chuckled. “Lycans must approve the heir when it is not of royal blood.” This, I knew. I had only assumed the heir in question was a relative of mine. Male, for sure, and young enough that my father could train them up in his image. My cousin, Guthrie, was the reasonable option. A year or so younger than me,exceptionally strong, and exceptionally dumb. He was the perfect puppet - he had the looks of a good candidate, and if he could woo people the way he conned women into his bed, it’d be easy enough to ensure whoever the puppet master was ca
