Chapter 43 – Lance Laying my eyes on Jayler, I saw nothing but the very same innocent smile that I keep on seeing from him every now and then. It was the same smile that makes me feel lighter and less agitated. It’s the same pure smile emanating from this amiable soul that seemed to have this magical vibrancy that never fails to make me abruptly forget about the rotten things that are weighing me down. It was just a simple smile quite frankly but it was a curve destined to create a radiant sunshine that would eventually decimate the cloudy and gloomy mood that I am in.

Yara. " I will repay you all with my blood." I whispered, a small smile playing at my lips , a smile that didn't quite reach my eyes. Disbelief and panic were plastered all over the Smith's faces except on Jade's face. Jade wore a challenging smile, with a smirk pulling at the corners of her lips. She was the happiest, after all.

It was easier this way, I convinced myself. But then, a voice interrupted our conversation. "Hello Alpha Damien." I turned to face the speaker, and there stood Jordan, all smiles. For a brief moment, I forgot his name, but he gently reminded me. His genuine smile, contrasting my current turmoil, caught me off guard. How could someone smile so effortlessly? How did he maintain that lightness?

Jason. "You are welcome, and Eleanor," He says while turning the doorknob of his office. "Don't forget, I am the only one allowed to see that smile," He says, walking into his office. Did I hear him well? Since when did he own my smile? He has told me to never smile at any guy, but this is the first time he is claiming my smile. If that is even something, someone can claim. I thought he hated my smile, and that's why he didn't want me smiling. Because if I remember his words correctly, it didn't sound like he was claiming my smile for himself. If anything, he sounded like he hated my smile more than anything in the world.

"Yes, I'll be your girlfriend. Yes, you can take care of us. Yes, Adam. Yes." The smile that broke across his face was not the thin, self-deprecating smile of the past week. It was not the controlled, professional smile of the CEO or the polite, distant smile of the man at the reception in Zurich. It was a real smile — wide and unguarded and almost painful in its intensity. The smile of a man who had been holding his breath for a decade and had finally been allowed to exhale.

The scar on his cheek is jagged and red in the candlelight. He smiles. It’s the smile from the wedding photos. The smile that charmed my grandmother. The smile that hid a monster. "You're late," Nikos says. His voice echoes in the cavernous room. He spreads his arms wide. "I almost started without you."

I was not mentally ready for anything which dealt with babies and future plans with the way the rumors were going about the pack. “You will have to work on that miss jane,” he smiled. “Or else, you will be replaced. And we don’t want that to happen to you now would we?” The way he said that and smiled with the wrinkles on his eyes being genuine steeped me out. He was a psychopath. Who had a genuine smile and also said horrible things like this? I gulped thinking of the man in a cruel way. What if this was the way he used in killing off his victims?

They still sent him numerous love letters and flowers that used to annoy Amber when she was alive. Jayden smiled remembering the day Alicia beat up one of his female staffs just because she made coffee for him and put love designs on it. Meanwhile Sonia shivered watching Jasper smile while in deep thoughts. His smile is really scary right now. What the heck is he thinking about? “You should frown more often. Ash, Decker, and Nat were downright hysterical and I could hear even Blade trying to keep himself from laughing. "I'm not gonna yell at her. I just want to know when they learned to ride." Joker snarled as he glared at me and then at the rest of the group. "Yeah, me too!" Dom and I both said at the same time which set off another round of laughter. Joker continued towards the door with us right behind him. He finally wrenched it open only to be greeted with Petal and Margo rolling in laughter on the floor. Thor, Sunny and Thrash were behind them, cracking up as well.

Jagger always looks so in control, and today, he looks like he is about to explode, as if my presence torments him as much as his torments me. We shouldn’t be near each other, this is a very dangerous game we are playing but I can’t stop. “Why are you here?” I ask, and his smile reappears, and my knees are about to cave. I have never seen a smile so beautiful. The way his eyes crinkle up on the sides, and his white teeth appear just a little, is the sexiest thing I have ever seen.
