Josie ordered in a gruff whisper. With the reality of what was happening taking precedence, Kendra pulled herself together and crawled in beside Rex. She wondered about the whereabouts of baby Rexford, but decided not to press her luck. Josie was very vague about whether or not she’d be able to find and rescue Rex. The fact that she’d pulled it off was a huge deal. She needed to respect the risks and efforts put forth and accept whatever the woman was able to do for them with graciousness and gratitude. They reached the edge of the city when the cart stopped and the tarp was lifted again.

HAILEE. As I opened the letter from the person in charge, my eyes scanned the words that urged my immediate return to the pack. The urgency in the message sent a shiver down my spine, and I knew that I had to face the problems that awaited me. The following morning, under the cloak of dawn's embrace, I embarked on my journey back to the pack. Determination coursed through my veins, mingling with a hint of apprehension. I retraced the familiar route, my senses attuned to every sound and movement in the surrounding wilderness.

I sit up and take a deep breath. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sleep so long, where are we?” I ask rubbing my eyes and stretching “We are in Mobile Alabama ” he says keeping his eyes on the road “It’s fine it was nice to just think to myself for a while. You were right Ro; it does suck not having anyone else but our family. I wish I could grow relationships with people and know they will be in my future, but that’s just not the life we were given, and I hate to say this, but we just have to deal with it.”

I slept like a baby on a bed of feathers. The following morning, the seer asked to rest for the day, since we had yet to recover from the journey. I reluctantly agreed. Ava was on my mind the whole time. on the third, he pack some food for the journey back, together with a bag of clothes and some of his work tools. I didn’t know seers needed tools to work. The journey back home was shorter than we came. It was as though we walked through time because by the evening of the third day, we were back to home.

The book in Jack’s hand felt like it weighed a hundred pounds as he rushed out to the trucks and the shifters who were begging him to hurry the hell up like they hadn’t eaten in a hundred years. He rushed out and jumped into the driver’s side, carefully placing the book on the console between himself and Chase. “Is that what I think it is?” Chase asked as Jack buckled his seatbelt and turned the truck on. “Yeah,” Jack said, turning the truck around to head back toward their village.

It has not been easy. I guess that's my karma... And even though I'm going back, I will make sure he never sees me. He will never know I'm back. I know he moved on... And I'm happy for him...
