I inquired of a woman engrossed in her work amidst the chaotic surroundings. "Selena Ardolf! My king's mate! What brings you here?" Her directness caught me off guard; she seemed to recognize me despite the fact that we had never met. "I've heard much about you being the closest confidant of the king, so I wished to meet you," I replied with a polite smile. "How gracious of you, my Queen. You could have summoned me to the castle instead of venturing here," she remarked, a smirk playing on her lips. Her scrutinizing gaze hinted at her awareness of my true purpose.

You know, in most supernatural movies I have watched, the queen is usually the one to be protected by members of her clan, while the king and the rest of their men would be the ones to go to the fight. But here, all I see is a queen who's rugged and won't allow anyone to treat her as trash. She would fight right back and kick her enemies right in the balls if that's what it takes for them to know she isn't to be messed with. I find that encouraging, actually. I'm just so glad that she is well and alive. We are inside the woods and running and running. I guess it is what we would do in a few more hours.

She says with a small giggle. "You will stop second guessing your abilities to lead and you will rule right beside your mate. That is an order." She jokes with a hint of seriousness. I nod and smile up at her. She holds her hand out and a golden staff apears. I immediately bow down and she dubs me Queen of werewolves by tapping the staff on both of my shoulders. "I now dub thee Mackenzie Roseline Lathen as Queen of werewolves and Luna of the royal pack. Do you accept?" She asks and I look up at her.

It consumes.” They left in a trail of tension, and just as the door swung shut, the King walked in, blinking as if he’d walked into the wrong house. His eyes widened at the sight of his mistress at the table. The Queen didn’t miss a beat. “Hello, darling. Join us.”

The Queen’s eyes again go red, but this time they seem to burn brightly. “There is no one. Get the hell out of here,” the Queen screams. “My Queen,” The king pats her hand. “He is talking about Quinn.” “Quinn will never be a queen. She is trash. A salve,” the queen is screaming. “Sire, please let me meet this Quinn,” I ignore the queen’s tantrum. “If you let her meet him, I will leave you,” The queen sneers. “Make him forget. Turn him away.”

But it had been such a whirlwind that I hadn’t had the opportunity to realize just how beautiful this room was. The King sat in the large marble throne, his golden crown perched neatly on his head. He wore a silky golden doublet beneath a trailing black cloak, and held a crystal-encrusted sword across both knees. He looked like something out of a painting, or a medieval movie. But it was really the Queen who stood out to me. She stepped slowly down the dais, a pure golden gown trailing behind her and a golden circlet around her silver hair. She moved with an effortless poise and grace despite her age, like an elder lioness.
