“He’s trying his best.”
“Good,” Gregory said simply, walking toward the little bookshelf that Damian had got in her room. His fingers brushed the spines of the books she had arranged. “You’ve been reading again.”
“Yes,” she said softly. “It helps me relax.”
He nodded, picking one of the books up, a collection of essays on family legacy. His expression softened slightly as he turned a few pages.
“You know,” he began, “when I was younger, I used to think legacy was only about wealth. The name. The empire.”
