I shielded my eyes from the brilliance, unable to comprehend what was happening. And then, in the midst of that radiant light, the moon Goddess herself appeared in her full glory. She descended gracefully, her presence ethereal. "Max" the moon Goddess spoke, her voice like a gentle melody. "You and Lia have fought well, and you have shown unwavering love and unity. As a gift unto you, I offer my divine intervention." I watched in wonder as the moon Goddess extended her hand over Lia's lifeless form. With a wave of her hand, she breathed life back into Lia, and her chest rose with a deep breath.

She reached the top of the ridge as the blood moon crested fully overhead. She stood for one moment at the boundary line one foot in Ashveil territory, one foot in unclaimed land and looked back. The distant glow of three fire pits was barely visible through the trees. Three hundred wolves down there, rearranging the story of the Mute Luna into something that fit the shape of what they'd just witnessed. She wondered briefly how long it would take them. Then she decided it didn't matter. She stepped over the boundary. The bond snapped clean, final, like a thread pulled taut past its last tolerance.

No one’s yelling. If someone wants a refund, we give it to them. If someone knocks over a stack of books, we pick them up. The stakes are very low.” She nods, but I can tell she doesn’t believe me. The bell over the door jingles, and Luca walks in like he owns the place—which, in a way, he kind of does.

Freya's POV The moment he left, the room felt darker. I sat frozen on the bed, my lips still tingling with the memory of his touch, of a pill I never asked for, and a man whose name carried more blood than mercy. Lord Zaynx. The Alpha of Dark Hollow. There were twelve chairs for all the council members but the leading three Alpha Terrain, Lord Vlad and Lady Tinkerbelle stayed in the front, clearly showing that here was a kind of hierarchy. I was in the centre of everyone and it felt like I was some sort of fucking circus monkey set out for display at the open market. I could feel it all. The judgmental looks, the murmurs. “Depends, who’s asking.” The man tilted his head, studying me like I was something displayed in a shop window. “My lord requires your presence.” I let out a sharp laugh, though it sounded thinner than I liked. “Right. And I require another drink and a good lay, but you don’t see me dragging strangers off the street. Why don’t you run back to your lord and tell him I’m busy?” I stepped back, ready to turn the corner and leave this creep in the shadows where he belonged, but I didn’t make it two steps. A sharp, stunning blow slammed into the back of my head. The world lurched violently, my knees buckled, and I went down hard.

“Nope. Nope. Nope. Voice of doom. I’m out.” Ronan didn’t move. “Show yourself.” Light flared from the void—not blinding, but cold. Shapes churned beneath the surface, like shadows swimming upward. The voice spoke again. “This is the boundary. The hinge. The wound. And she—” The void pulsed. Lyra’s mark answered. “—is its key.” Lyra’s breath stuttered. Vale stepped in front of her again, every line of his body wired with lethal intent. “She is not yours.”
