He was te‌rrified o‌f losing me, and in this game of pow‌er and memori‌es, t‍hat was the only ed‌ge I‍ needed. ~~~ The next morning, the library was exactly as we had left it, exce‍pt fo‌r the comp‍as⁠s, which had vanished.

He was holding it at an odd angle, his brow furrowed in concentration. “There’s something off about this,” Lucan said, tapping the spine of the book. “It’s too heavy—like there’s something inside.” Elara crossed the room, her heart pounding. Together, they opened the book, revealing a hidden compartment inside the hollowed-out pages. Nestled within the compartment was a small, ornate key, its surface tarnished with age. “A key,” Elara whispered, her mind racing. “But to what?” Lucan studied the key for a moment before glancing around the room. “It has to unlock something in this house. Someplace your father hid the final piece of the puzzle.”

It was Luna he loved, not Keira. Then, thoughts of the golden heirloom key floated into my mind. I had to mention something about it. “The festival is something we can wait for,” he drawled, and I smiled. “That reminds me; I'm writing a book, and it will have a festival in it. By the way, the book is about the Golden Heirloom Key. The secret powers it contains, the consequences of having it. Advantages, disadvantages… I'm just, you know… compiling it all.”

"You're never this happy to see me, but you're overly excited to open a secret door." I sighed, throwing my eyes to the side. "Adriano. Come closer." He was about to say something, but I stopped him with a kiss. "Now shall we?" "Okay." He smiled, like a crazed teenager in love. "The books have to form THE KEY." "So which books do we need to get the key?" "No, I mean the answer to the puzzle is THE KEY. The first words of those books will form those two words." "Oh." I beamed.

She looks confused. "I guess I must have missed it. They're not easy to find without knowing what to look for." She drops down next to Leo. "We'll get the serial number and find out who it belongs to." She shrugs. "That'll have to wait till morning, we can do this all later." She said before latching the gate before she and Leo disappeared back into the house. 'Goodnight Hetty, see you tomorrow.' I mock them to myself. Oh well. Not much I can do about it for now. I climb back in the cot and close my eyes, ready to see what the morning brings.

She screamed. “You are not, not anymore.” He spoke as he bit her neck to the extent that she felt as if he will snatch out her flesh. “Please, let me go.” “That husband of yours lost you on a bet. I am the winner, and you belong to me. Just me.” She knew what Aslan was saying was right. John had indeed lost her on a poker table as if she was nothing but another of his belongings just like his watch or an old table.

Anger and frustration rippled through me at the thought and Zilver picked up his speed, running faster and heading deeper into the forest. My mother knew exactly what he was looking for but instead of handing it over, she preferred dying. It was that book of prophecies and the key to unlocking it. The key though had been missing for centuries. Because the book only held half the prophecy without that key, the other half was hidden and could only be revealed if that missing piece was plugged in.

He has to get to his child. We can push the door open far enough for me to slip into the opening. It is handy to be small sometimes. I enter the room, seeing the cause of the obstruction is a bookshelf. It must have tipped and lodged itself against the door during the earthquake. I tip the bookshelf back against the wall, letting Brixtius have access to the room. A room with furniture strewn all over the place. "Eurydice!" I yell out, hearing her cries from under a fallen dresser. Brixtius moves with speed and lifts the wooden furniture like it weighs nothing.

Tilly shoots me an appreciative look, mouthing, “Thanks for that.” “Anyway,” I ignore Luca’s complaining as he gets up from the floor. “I need your help with something.” “Sure. What can I help with?” she asks. “Oh. By the way, thank you for sorting out the books.” “I told you I would, didn’t I?” she grins. “So, what do you need?” “Yeah. About that.” I consider how to approach the subject. “I’m looking for a key. I had a key that went missing from my room, and I think someone might have stolen it.”

Flipping it open, I discover the insides of the book are carved out and glued together to create a compartment inside where sits a small dark key. I suddenly feel like I'm stuck in one of those Choose-Your-Own-Adventure books I devoured as a kid. What does this key fit? Should I take it? Of course I'm taking it. Curiosity isn't killing this cat… hopefully. Where should I look for the lock it fits? New mission: figure out what this key unlocks.
