"Because no one believed me. My husband didn't believe me... and he was the Alpha." The stranger remained silent, letting me speak. "He chose her," I whispered, my voice breaking completely. "The woman I was accused of trying to kill. He was in love with her... he always was. Three years I spent loving a man who never loved me back. He only married me because his pack needed a Luna." The stranger stopped dead in his tracks. "What is it?" I asked, lifting my head. "Nothing," he said, his voice dropping into a strangely cold tone before he resumed walking.

“You have no clue, do you? Do you think I would choose you to be my Luna willingly? A wolf-less Luna at that? I’m stuck with you because my father owed your dead father a debt of gratitude, I’m the subject of gossip because of you. I’m tolerating you because I have to. So go downstairs, smile like the sun is shining from your ass and entertain our guests while I finish business here” “No” I stand up for myself. I bite down all the things he has said to me and the words I want to say lie heavy on my tongue. ‘I, River Brown, reject you…’ “No?” Landon laughs, “Why? Because your feelings are hurt? Wake up to the real world, sweetheart. I’m the only one willing to take you in. If I reject you, if

Besides, only a chosen could have your heir. Though the Alpha could get himself a Mistress, give her a secondary mark, spend his life of vanity but the catch was once the Luna appeared, they usually tend to reject an already engaged mate or tear the throat of the inconvenience. Therefore most Lycan Alpha's got lovers and mistress after mating their chosen.

When the moment passed, he leaned close enough that only she could hear. “You’ll pay for that hesitation.” She met his gaze. “Then charge interest.” His smile flickered , genuine this time, sharp and fleeting. Then, just as quickly, he turned away. --- Later that night, when the hall had emptied and the candles guttered to low embers, Luna sat alone by the window of her chamber. The moonlight poured through the lattice like silver fire, spilling across the floor. Her knees still ached from the cold marble, but she refused to regret it.

I said, my reply sounding like a question. “Getting there,” Alec muttered, his eyes gleaming in delight, he was enjoying whatever this weird encounter was. “say it,” he mouthed, edging himself closer to the edge of his chair. “Hades mate,” I whispered in a low tone, my head dropped in fear. Alec barked out a loud laugh, the room rumbled at the force of his laughter. “There it is,” he muttered. “The rejected Luna, trapped in the middle of an unreciprocated love,” he said.

“We don’t hurt people who haven’t hurt us, especially those who are running away from something and need our help.” I look away, shame creeping up my throat. “You don’t have to tell me what happened,” he adds quickly. “But you don’t have to be afraid either.” I look back at him. His kindness is confusing. I don’t know how to trust it. “I was rejected.” The words burn my tongue. Elian tries his best not to look surprised, but I can see the cracks of sympathy and pity breaking across his face. “I was supposed to become Luna.” I scoff a sad chuckle. “But it turns out I'm not the Luna material for him. Luna's rejection and her unyielding confidence had bruised his ego. He reluctantly turned away, his hopes and illusions shattered, realizing that Luna was no longer the easily swayed girl he once knew.

His response surprised me. "I... I had to. I couldn't stay in your pack after your rejection," I murmured meekly, my voice barely audible as I stared at the ground, avoiding his piercing gaze. I inhaled sharply, sensing his presence shifting closer, his presence almost suffocating. "There is no certain rule that, after rejection, a Luna has to leave," he asserted, his voice laced with authority, breaking through the tension. But he seemed to forget that I was no longer his Luna after his rejection.

Luna said, her voice steady despite her inner turmoil. "I have no intention of butting into your relationship or making things complicated between both of you. All I need is for you to talk to my father in case he gets upset about the rejection. You already know how he can be, so talking to him myself may not be the best idea. Once that's done, I'll handle the rest. We'll go through the rejection ceremony once he comes to terms with us not being meant for each other, and after it all, you and I can go back to being enemies," she explained. As much as her wolf was hurting, she also believed that she and Lucas were far too different to be together, and even though it hurt her pride that she wa

“I will not be owned. Those who challenge me will answer to the Moon—not councils.” She turned and walked away. As she passed Kael, he whispered hoarsely, “I was wrong.” She didn’t slow. “I know.” And in that moment, Alpha Kael Nightfang realized the cruelest truth of all: The Luna he had rejected was no longer something he could win back.
