Goodbye, my mate

Goodbye, my mate

I said. "Pneumonia?! Is she dying?!" Lucian shouted. I love Lycans. They're so adorable. They're like three-year-olds. They only pick up the words they want to hear and ignore others. "Dr. Monk has been working on her all morning. She's sleeping right now. She's fine," I said. "Why is there fluid in her lungs?! Where has she been?!" Lucian asked. She went to a sex dungeon, got drugged, threw herself off a bridge, and floated on the sea for a whole stormy night. She smelt like dead fish when she was back, by the way. I thought to myself.

Too Late to Regret: The Billionaire’s Unwanted Ex

Too Late to Regret: The Billionaire’s Unwanted Ex

Elara was bent over a centrifuge, measuring a clear, viscous liquid. "What is it?" Lucian asked. "It’s a concentrated variant of the aldehyde I used in Renaissance," Elara explained, her eyes focused on the beaker. "To a normal person, it smells like heavy cedar and rain. But it binds to the mucosal lining of the throat. If you have chronic asthma or scarred lung tissue—like your father does from his 'accident' twenty years ago—it will cause an immediate, violent bronchial spasm." She held up a small, glass vial.

MATES: REMNANTS OF A BETRAYED BOND

MATES: REMNANTS OF A BETRAYED BOND

I spat bitterly, “...are my lungs trying to come through my mouth?” “Selective stomach, maybe.” He gave a baffled snort. “Or you swallowed a nasty bug.” “Tch.” I flexed my tongue against the rancid taste in my mouth. “Wolves don’t get sick.” Devin chuckled at my misery. “Keep telling yourself that while you cough up your lungs.” The path crunched under our feet as we walked a little further. A wave of fear slammed into me out of nowhere, stealing the very air in my lungs. I gripped another tree bark, crushing wood with my claws.

Cherish Me, Daddy

Cherish Me, Daddy

Six days since Luke dragged a coughing, smoke-choked Eli out of the wreckage of Elric's cabin, and six days since Luke had simply… appeared in my penthouse, claiming he needed a break from his own pack. I stood in the doorway of my bedroom, the one Eli still hadn’t been permitted to leave. He was curled on his side, the rise and fall of his chest shallow, his face pale against the dark sheets. The doctors’ words echoed: lung damage, scarring from particulate inhalation, recovery will be slow. Every time he coughed... a wet, ragged sound that seemed to tear him from the inside... my fists would clench so tight the bones in my knuckles threatened to splinter.

The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection

The Rise of a Master: It Starts With Rejection

The only solution was to go to the hospital. "Short needle, lobar bronchus meridian for five seconds!" Felix said. However, Quinlan stood there unmoving in a daze. Elise got annoyed. "If you can, do it. If you can't, get out!" she exclaimed in anger. It immediately brought Quinlan back to reality, and he quickly started the acupuncture procedure. He wanted to see what Felix could really do. Could he really cure the early stages of lung cancer? Besides, Quinlan was giving the acupuncture on his behalf, which was absolutely impossible.

FALLING FOR THE WRONG BROTHER.

FALLING FOR THE WRONG BROTHER.

"That’s the dumbest advice I’ve ever heard. Do you have any idea what’s in that? Tar, formaldehyde, benzene, polonium-210—that’s literally a radioactive carcinogen. It causes endothelial dysfunction, accelerates atherosclerosis and reduces ciliary function in the lungs, which means you can’t clear pathogens. You’re basically inviting COPD, myocardial infarction and about twelve different kinds of cancer to a party in your chest." Leo let out a short, startled bark of laughter. "Jesus Christ, Kasey. You’re such a fucking nerd. You’re sitting here in a hospital gown after a total meltdown and you’re giving me a lecture on lung cilia?" Something about his laugh punctured the tight balloon of mi

Keeper, Not Lover

Keeper, Not Lover

And at her feet, Leo, in his little tuxedo, was making a face at the man he called “Daddy.” The child who carried half my blood, smiling like an angel. The photo was a shard of glass in my gut. Beautiful and deadly, twisting with every breath I took. “A cigarette.” I stared at the photo, devouring every detail. “But the doctor said your lungs…” “Give it to me.” My tone left no room for argument. Luca sighed, lit a cigarette, and placed it between my lips. I took a deep drag. The smoke hit my damaged lungs, and a wave of searing pain shot through my chest.

Becoming The Beta Woman

Becoming The Beta Woman

FELICIA When he finally pulled away, my breath was stuck into my throat. As if my lungs refused to let go of the scent he left in my breaths. “Breathe, Felicious! Breathe.” He reminded me and my lungs instantly started working. I took a deep breath, and it felt like his scent didn't get lost in the air. Instead, it went deeper. As if it was in my blood.

“What are your jobs?” “Construction, sir, and I do landscaping for extra income.” “Good.” I nodded. “Your wife is sick. What does she have?” Carly asked. “She has LAM, ma’am.” “Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, Your Highness. It’s a rare lung disease,” Cossima explained.

It's a typical rich guy who has no time for relationships. And thank God the female lead is not a poor and weak girl. What I like about this novel is the chemistry between Rome and Carly, and the guy isn't an assh*le. He genuinely wants her, and not only after s*x.

Great book. I'm always into stories with depth of character transitions and unpredictable plots. It's okay to have a common trope as long as the twists are unique and the characters' chemistry is off the chart.
