The Man Like None Other Novels & Stories

Before the birthday party starts, my boyfriend, Edward Parker, casts his phone onto the large screen in the private room. He starts an anonymous poll in the group chat we share with our friends. The question is, "Tonight, should I stay and cut the cake with my girlfriend, or go to the premiere with my childhood friend?" A 30-second countdown begins as the votes keep climbing. His childhood friend, Renee Lane, gets 17 votes while I get just one. Everyone thinks I'm the one who has voted for myself. Edward leans back against the couch and smiles. "The minority yields to the majority." Renee hands him the movie ticket. "Guess everyone agrees that I need you more." Meanwhile, I'm standing

I couldn't help but feel the sting of being alone. "Are you here by yourself, too?" asked the woman beside me. Before I could respond, she continued, "My husband's on a business trip and couldn't make it. But he promised to make it up to me with a Hermès bag when he gets back." She flicked her long hair over her shoulder, and I saw her profile. Her words might've sounded like complaining, but the smile on her face said otherwise. She went on and on about how great her husband was to her while I listened in silence. When she mentioned her husband was the CEO of a pharmaceutical company—Rupert Hensley—I froze.

He holds a similar energy just like his father's but I refuse to be intimidated by him. "I don't want to have anything to do with you, clearly you're nothing like the girls I like. You're simply not my type". he smirks as his grey eyes scan me, more like checking me out. Oh I definitely know how to deal with cocky jerks like you! "The feeling is mutual Mr..." I try to remember his name "Nathan" he completes "Nathan" I repeat. You can't be my type, you're too old for me, what are you like, 30?"

He was like a familiar stranger to me. “Thank you for coming all this way, Allen. I appreciate your apology. It’s a… relief to know that the truth is out. It means a lot to me.” Allen took a step forward eagerly. “Then, we should—” I raised my hand to interrupt him. My voice remained flat as I cleaned the blood off my fingers. “I realized one thing when I saw the guilt in your face. You’ve never loved the real me. You only love the feeling that you owe me.”

That is the spirit," the man replied. First of all, let's all go inside." Angelo observed the man who had a small stature. It was very obvious that if he attacked right away, he could beat him in a fight effortlessly however, he noticed there were earpods in the man's ears. It seems the man was receiving instructions from someone on the phone. The man was on call and someone was listening to whatever was going on here. It was risky trying to fight this man because whoever was listening to the man could be with the button that could end the life of the young woman in front of him.

If you’ll look at him, he has a resemblance to Ryan Gosling. “What? Will I just aim this gun at you on you I will shoot you with this already?” the demon-like guy asked impatiently. He looks very irritated. He seems to be running out of patience. The captive man swallowed softly as he spoke. “I am sorry to tell you this, Miss, but I was left without a choice.” After saying that, the man held her and claimed her lips.

I froze. He looked exactly like me. My breath caught. Then— bang. The man who looked like me pulled out a gun and shot the guy on the ground. No hesitation. No mercy. I choked on a gasp. The others turned sharply. "Who was that?" I barely had time to react before the one who looked like me spoke. His voice was sharp. Dangerous. And terrifyingly familiar. "Find the person and kill him." My blood ran cold. I didn’t know what was happening. I didn’t know where I really was. But I knew one thing. I had to run.

I have no idea what is going on. "Hi, why did you stop the song?" I ask. "I'm sorry, where are my manners? I am Madame Claire Dumont. This is my studio, Concord d' Heights." Madame Claire Dumont stares at me with her perfect posture. Her porcelain skin matches her flawless long black hair. Madame Claire is a beautiful Asian woman nearing her mid-thirties. "What do you want with me?" I ask.
