The Marriage Contract Novels & Stories

As she sat there lost in a lonely world of her own thoughts, her eyes caught with a stack of papers - the details of their contract marriage. Olivia's hands trembled as she carried the contract, her eyes blurred with unshed tears. She knew that she needed to revisit the document that had shaped her life for the past several months. With a shaky breath, she began reading the contract aloud, her voice shaking with emotion. "In accordance with this contract," she started, "Nathaniel and Olivia agree to enter into a marriage of convenience for a period of one year. The purpose of this contract is to provide mutual benefits to both parties involved."

"I had my lawyers prepare this" He handed it to me, and I opened it carefully. CONTRACT MARRIAGE AGREEMENT. My pulse skipped as I slowly skimmed through the pages. "Wait..." I frowned. "There are actual rules?" Enzo folded his arms. "Naturally". So I kept on reading. Rule One: No involvement with other men during the duration of the contract marriage. Rule Two: Attend official functions beside husband. Rule Three: Maintain public image of loving marriage. Rule Four:

“Read the contract, and sign it if you're fine with all the clauses,” I blinked, staring at him, confused. What contract? My eyes flicked back to the paper as I picked it up. I stiffened. ‘Marriage Contract’ was written boldly at the top of the paper. My eyes wandered round the paper. No sex. No strings attached. No meddling in each other's affairs. No third party. "These are the terms and conditions of our agreement." Back in the solitude of my home, I sank onto the couch and unfolded the contract. The legal jargon sprawled across the pages, outlining a rigid framework: 1. **Duration**: The marriage would endure for one year from the date of signing. 2. **Residency**: I was required to reside exclusively with Zack at his designated home for the entire duration of the marriage. 3. **Public Appearance**: Zack and I must appear together publicly at least once a month, maintaining the facade of a committed couple.

I failed to recognize such because I was overwhelmed by his sudden disturbance and the mention of marriage. “Sit.” My brows furrowed. Why does he order me around like I am a dog? I snorted and took a seat on the couch. He dragged the envelope nearer in my direction before crossing his arms over his chest. “This is a contract about our marriage. Read it.” I don’t have a choice but to do it so I read the entire contract. It was a normal marriage contract aside from its expiration. In two to three years, the contract will expire as well as our bond as a husband and wife will be nullified as what the contract implies.

“Glad you mentioned that. I spent all night studying even better ones. Amore. Tesoro. Carina. Giola Mio. Dolcezza. Bellisima—” I zone his voice out as I reach the table with the papers on top. There’s a marriage contract. A typical one. There’s nothing extra listed, not even a clause that I can use as an attack. If anything, this is the most normal marriage contract I have ever seen. And he’s already signed in his name.

“Who would’ve thought you’re knowledgeable in legal matters?” Jasmine's face flushed red. She could sense he was being sarcastic. Tristan leaned very close to her, puffing his breaths on the tip of her nose. “In that case, we are gonna be considered a legally married couple if we get our Contract marriage agreement signed, Right?” He’s as cunning as a fox! He forced me to his house, yet he’s also planning on getting us married. How can a naive girl like me match up against a sly devil like him?

I offered. “None, thank you. Let’s get straight to the point.” She replied, her tone sharp and focused. “Understood,” I said, bringing the file from my desk and taking a seat across from her.. “I’ve drafted up the terms and conditions for our contract marriage,” I explained, handing her the file. "Please take a look and let me know if anything doesn't seem right to you. We can make any necessary amendments." Laurel took the file and began to carefully read its contents, her eyes scanning each word with focus.
