High above, the iron gates slammed shut with a heavy, final boom. Lights flared along the battlements, sharp and cold — new defenses rising. But this time, they did not look like strength. They looked like desperation. And we began to walk up the slope.

The creature disappears. Silence. Then— A single crack echoes from behind the black stone. Everyone freezes. I stare at the sealed gate. Kael grips my hand. "What was that?" I don't answer. Because beneath my palm, my unborn child moves. And my wolf whispers one terrifying sentence. The gate did not close. It chose a new door.

As the echoes faded, the silver veins in the earth began to pulse faster, spreading outward like wildfire toward the Gate. The wind screamed through the gorge as Kaelen crested the ridge. The world below no longer looked like the valley he’d sworn to protect. The ground pulsed with veins of light, rivers of silver snaking between shattered stones. The air shimmered like molten glass, bending and breaking the rain into prisms. And at the center of it all stood the Gate—a colossal arch of fractured crystal half-buried in the mountain. Its surface rippled like water, reflecting skies that didn’t belong to this world.

KILLIAN'S POV The day began with a clear morning sky. Devoid of clouds, only a few birds hovered across the sky. The wind moved in its slowest motion, and the smell of the porous earth was faint to pick up. It was the new year, five months after I had gotten Erika pregnant. I had been able to conclude every project I had going on the previous year. The pack had now been completely fortified with thick walls and four gates. The North gate was the main gate, and it was the biggest among all four. The other three were smaller and less designed. Each gate now had guards guarding it.

They all shuddered at his ruthlessness. “How can we trust you that you will also let our world go?” Arlen asked. “After all, our world still has the Gate.” he said. They nodded in agreement with what Arlen said. “You don’t know?” Nicht looked at them in surprise. “You only have to kill the guardian of the Gate so that the Gate would also disappear.” He answered. They were stunned. Nicht maliciously smiled. “So you don’t know…” he muttered. “The Gate only appears because someone was born to guard it. I was the bridge, and the bridge was starting to crack under the weight of their egos. “We have reached the first station,” Hala said, pointing ahead. Through the thinning mist, a massive structure began to loom. It wasn't a tower or a palace. It was a gate—a colossal archway made of black obsidian and white bone, reaching five hundred feet into the grey sky. It was carved with the images of a thousand wolves, all of them kneeling before a central figure who had no face. The Gate of the First Abandonment. At the base of the gate, a figure was waiting.

A wad of cold fear formed in her stomach. “What gate?” she asked, confused. His smile widened beneath the cracked mask. “The Gate of Collapse.” A ripple of horror spread through the room. A Noctis envoy shouted, “That’s a myth!” A Solaris judge protested, “That gate cannot exist!” Ariadne stiffened. “Explain yourself.” The assassin stretched his fingers, corrupted luminous dancing between them. “The Gate is real. And only one soul can unlock it.” He pointed at Alessia with two fingers. “Yours.”
