“I just have to clear up a few things, and I need closure. I don't think I can move on with my life if I don't get one from him.” Mom sighed, she almost looked like she was going to say something, but at the very last moment she stopped herself. While I was happy to know she wasn't going to argue with me about it, I wanted to know what she had to say. Somewhere deep inside, I was looking for reasons to not go, especially after sleeping with his dad. “I think you're being an idiot, and you're going to regret meeting him,” Ant added with a mouthful of green leaves. “Nothing good comes out of meeting your ex, and yes I'm talking from experience.”

He looks confused from me to where Jake is. "Yes, she used to date Jake. They broke up months before I dated her," Alaric explains, and Desmond simply nods, not looking bothered. His dad, however, is glaring at Alaric. "Welcome to the family, Ruby. I'm Sally. This is William." His mum points to their dad. Now, there's tension between Alaric and his dad. "I'm going to see Bex. It's nice to meet you all." I feel like his dad is holding his tongue while I'm there. When I get to Bex and Ivy, I see Lucas and Oliver talking. So, have they become friends?

My mother was more subtle, but I could see the suspicion in her eyes as she glanced at Phoebe. We greeted everyone at the table and then I led Phoebe to a seat next to me. She sat down quietly, her hands resting in her lap. At first, she didn’t say much, just answering politely when someone spoke to her. I could see she was nervous, but she was trying to hold it together. As the dinner went on, Phoebe started to relax a little. But the stupid questions were only going to start then. “So.. your father was a warrior right?” Alexander asked Phoebe.

Our company was still important. “Alright, Dad,” He murmured before hanging up. A heavy sigh crossed my lips. Andrea wouldn't accept right? She isn't that easy. I contemplated while I patiently waited. An hour later, after I finished speaking to my personal assistant. He was representing and covering my schedules, if there was a need for me to be in California, I would board a flight right away. My Phone rang that minute, seeing it was Fred, I picked up. “Dad, she accepted! She agreed to come back to me!” He declared enthusiastically and my expression turned dark.

"My dad was sitting by the kitchen doors, and you said he was fine where he was. My brother got pulled from the wedding party, and you said Theo looked better up there. My dad's name disappeared from the program, and you said he wasn't comfortable with that kind of thing." I went through it piece by piece, my voice level the whole time. He couldn't argue with a single one. Dad closed the lid on the repaired chest. The new clasp clicked softly into place. "Mr. Chambers," Dad said. "My daughter isn't looking for compensation. She just wants her family to be treated like they matter." Elliott's fingers tightened at his sides. Just then, his phone rang. He answered, and I watched the color drain

"I have no idea what you're talking about. Liam has been arrested for financial crimes, so nothing he says can be trusted. "Why would we even tear a report that doesn't exist when we didn't even have to test our daughter in the first place? You've been watching too many soap operas, Ms. Phoebe." Dad's remarks about Phoebe drew a burst of chuckles from the guests. Phoebe's face turned bright red with embarrassment. She turned a pleading gaze toward Mom and begged, "You have to tell them the truth, Mom! You both told me yourselves that I'm your daughter and Rosalyn is the imposter!"

Phoebe was always emotionally steady and able to handle pressure. So what on earth was going on now? Phoebe could hardly believe what she was seeing. Was Felicity actually Gerald's daughter? Her own father had another daughter!

Phoebe paused as she wondered what the laughter was about but then the voice began to speak. “You must be very stupid to think anyone would give two fucks if you go missing. Do you think anyone would notice your disappearance? Oh yeah, except for that excuse of a father you’ve got,” he hissed with so much hatred that Phoebe was left wondering who he was and why he was talking like he had a beef with her. The men she’d seen were nothing close to being familiar so why then was he addressing her with so much spite? How does he even know about her father?

She comfortably throws an arm around me and finds support. I’m barely inside the room when I notice that Dad’s back to me, he’s engrossed in a phone. “Uh… Love, Uncle Dominic is calling…” He stammers in between words. Wait… My phone!? I watch him put the phone to his ear and spot the familiar pink pouch! Fuck! “Hello?” I let go of Sophie with so much force that she staggers and falls sideways, thanks to Riley she’s still standing on two good feet. “Dad…” I snatch the phone from him, acting first before regretting it later.
