Blackwater Val

Blackwater Val

He screamed out again when the bolt action 30-06 he was leaning on discharged a final time and blew his right ear clean off the side of his head. Near the center of town at that moment, while Sydney Cholke sat on her back steps after work, close to tears herself, clutching the extra set of apartment keys and chain-smoking, mourning the loss of her willowy auburn-haired Alice . . . her heart’s delight . . . the two peach-faced lovebirds, dead inside their wire cage, reanimated abruptly and both began floundering beside her on the porch.

The nerd secret obssesion

The nerd secret obssesion

Chapter 16: The Art of the Lie POV: Chloe The flashlight beams were like predatory eyes cutting through the dark. I could hear the crunch of dry leaves under heavy boots. My father wasn't alone; he had the estate security with him, and their pace was aggressive. "Chloe! Answer me!" my father’s voice roared, closer now. Panic, cold and sharp, spiked in my chest. If he found me here—drenched in dirt, my dress torn, standing next to a bleeding Elias—there would be no boarding school in Switzerland. He would practically bury me alive.

The Stranger Who Stayed:When Fate Knocks Once

The Stranger Who Stayed:When Fate Knocks Once

He was glad. He was, in the weight of the June afternoon and the ground broken and the sandstone at sixty centimetres and Frances not yet at the trench and Ada's hand not yet on the rock face and Saturday not yet arrived, glad. He was glad. End of Chapter One Hundred and Ninety-Eight

Hiding His Heir: The Rejected Luna’s Return

Hiding His Heir: The Rejected Luna’s Return

The moment her skin made contact with his, the playground vanished. For a heartbeat, they were back in the North, standing in a courtyard of white-glass and blood-red lilies. And from the sky, a voice boomed—the voice of the "Author" logging back in. "Volume Two, Chapter Three: The School for Victims."

Six_K.I. Lynn

Six_K.I. Lynn

Moving my hand in front of me, I gripped the gun with both hands, folding my left on top of my right as he showed me. Each second we stayed there, the faster the thumping in my chest and the itch to run grew. But Six knew what he was doing, and I had to follow his lead. The faint clopping of shoes in the distance turned my head back to the way we came. My attention focused on the sound, trying to decipher if it was coming toward us. I glanced back down to Six who was still crouched down. He was frozen, his head angled toward the same sound. My fingers tightened around the grip of the gun, each second seeming to pass like minutes.

Six Like the Number

Six Like the Number

*Axle's POV* As I’m waiting outside, I feel strangely nervous. What if he doesn’t like me? When I see Six walk out with the little boys hand in hers, I can’t help but smile. They walk up to me and she says, “Theo, this is Axle. He’s going to come with us to the park.” I kneel down so that I’m at his level and say, “Hi Theo.” “Hello,” he says back. I can’t get over how much he looks like Six. Up close, it’s even more

The Beta & the jewel thief - book 6

The Beta & the jewel thief - book 6

Anything was better than having to drag us from the comfort and safety of our home out into the bitter cold night. But I didn’t have a choice this time. Finally, I hear movement from inside. “Who is it?” The familiar raspy voice of Aunt Lizzy calls out. “It’s us, Aunt Lizzy, open up it's cold!” I answer back, keeping my voice low but loud enough for the old she-wolf to hear. The door opens and we slip inside, taking another look up and down the crumbling and decrepit street. My eyes find the shadows of falling down houses, moving to the next when I find nothing or nobody before I close the door behind us. Leaving the cold night air outside.

I really enjoyed this series. Many books on this platform have similar stories, which gets boring really fast. This book series kept me entertained the whole time. It had the perfect balance of romance and action. I enjoyed getting to know each character in more detail as each book was added.

When Arrows Fly

When Arrows Fly

Chapter 12 RUBIN "What the fuck?" I stare back at him as he loom over me–he is so tall that I have to crane my neck to be able to stare at him. My wings appeared instantly, nervously fluttering on my back, my hands steadily growing sweaty as I swallowed. I was quite shock that I was still breathing for I am afraid of what he will do. A few seconds passed and I squared up my shoulders, taking the book from the floor while trying to gather up more courage as I began to speak, “He-hello there. It's me, Rubin, Rubin Hearthrowe. What about you? What is your name?" I cringed at how shaky my voice appeared and instead, tighten my hold at the book. He glared at my hand which is currently holding the

Babysitting the Mafia Princess

Babysitting the Mafia Princess

Sky: “Dad says we might be here for a week. Kill me now.” Charlie stared at the message, wanting to write paragraphs back but settling for: “Hang in there. It’s safer.” He deleted three hearts before hitting send. The third day started like the others. Charlie was halfway through chapter twelve of the thriller. The main character had just discovered his partner was the traitor all along and that’s when he heard it. A car engine. Then another. Not the familiar rumble of Marcus’s SUV or any of the security detail vehicles. These were lighter, faster engines.

The Alpha's Fated Kiss

The Alpha's Fated Kiss

"That’s my sister.” Alexander leaned his forehead, against Elenas, skin meeting skin. "Let’s end this.” We stepped out of the bodega onto a street that was slowly beginning to feel like home more—worn raw authentic. The dome in the alley, behind us broke apart entirely. Six of us with eyes stood amidst the debris mouths agape, in flawless soundless screams. The city—our city—came alive once more. To be continued… Chapter 65 Lila Moreau The sound that responded to us wasn't the screech of subway brakes or the wail of sirens.
