The Day She Stopped Waiting

The Day She Stopped Waiting

His face hardened. Immediately. Then: "RUN FASTER!" Nobody needed convincing. Everyone pushed harder. The lighthouse grew larger. Closer. Closer. Almost there. Then suddenly— Peanut stopped. Completely stopped. Lily nearly fell. "What?" Peanut pointed toward the cliff edge. Then Lily saw it. A little boy. Standing in the storm. Alone. Maybe seven years old. Maybe eight. Looking directly at them. Not moving. Not speaking. Just staring. Then lightning illuminated his face.

10 chapters in and I hope it’s second chance book. I love a good “leaving my shitty husband for a better man” plot but sometimes I love a good “I need to get my wife back” plot as well. Sometimes I want to read about how a relationship was pulled back from the brink and I feel this is goi to be it.

Single Life Survival Level Up: Anti-Skinny Revenge

Single Life Survival Level Up: Anti-Skinny Revenge

The man was tall, with hair that used to be perfectly slicked back. His gray shirt was torn, revealing blackened skin and peeling flesh. "Don... Donny?" Bima’s whisper was barely audible. It was him. Donny, the leader of the 'Pretty Boy Thugs' in middle school, who used to love mocking him as 'Toothpick Bima.' Donny, who always showed off his biceps from working out at some cheap gym. Now, Donny, the king of bullies, was just a walking hunk of meat. His eyes were sunken, filled with the white haze of death.

My day was way more important than this guy at least for now until I decided to mull it over tonight over a small meal that I would end up making later. I took a deep breath and headed toward the bench that sat beneath the shade of trees. A group of birds chirped nearby, possibly above me where the branches shielded the summer sun and kids played with their parents and pets nearby as well.I had pulled my hair into a ponytail before leaving my place, a light tee and a pair of faded shorts that came close to my knees. It was a tad hot to wear anything else. In my back pocket, rested my cell phone which was brand new and cost a fair amount but it was worth it because who knows what may lay ahea

Bitter Love

Bitter Love

Chapter Thirty-three Jacob “Hey, buddy,” I say softly as I undo the latch and step into Pongo’s stall. The gelding nickers to me, coming over and nosing my pocket for treats. “Wanna take a walk outside?” Pongo has made a lot of improvement in the last few days. He still has a long way to go but I'm feeling almost confident enough to say he's almost out of the woods. People fail to realize just how motivating and inspiring it can be to see an animal like this, who has known nothing but cruelty the last few years of his life, fight so hard for a chance to keep going. This horse has a will to live.

Mom, why the hell did you force me to watch all the magic Mike movies with you last week?! Jesus help me! I screamed inside, swallowing hard.

Things Slip Through

Things Slip Through

In the summer he bailed hay for local farmers and walked up and down Route 79 outside town, collecting cans and bottles and scrap metal. Jesse always looked dirty and ragged; his clothes rumpled and stained, as if he slept in them and never changed or washed them. Her classmates swore he smelled like sour milk and cow shit. She had no idea if that was true, but she didn’t want to find out, so she glanced down Allen to make sure no one was coming and crossed the street, leaving the pizza joint and the awful Jesse Kretch behind, thinking again about Bob and how Adam Stillman would never talk to her again.

, I shakes my head. " Are you skipping lunch everyday ? I don't see you at canteen.", he asks with something like concern in his eyes. My eyes widen a bit in surprise. So he noticed I was not in the canteen. Or probably because his monster friends wanted to bully me and they were looking for me. "N..no. I have lunch from outside." " Are you lying ?" " No.", I say and take the textbook from the table, reading through the next point I marked. I don't want to indulge in this type of conversation with him. He is starting to act like he really cares for me. Who is he to care ?

I really hope something happens to these bullies and they get a taste of their own medicine. I hope that they get kicked out of school. Somebody needs to kick their ass. I hope Michael gets a freaking backbone and stand up for himself and Ethan is a piece of shit. This book makes me so angry.

Wages of Fear

Wages of Fear

He hated people who assumed a second line was theirs and then got so animatedly guilty when they realized the— supposed—mistake they’d made. He lifted his head and pressed his one clean nostril so he could suck more air through the coke nostril, making sure to suck every little sign of the shit up into his brain. And then his brain began to buzz. “That’s sweet shit,” Dink said to Sonny Boy who feigned politeness in a grand gesture of relieving Dink of the tray. The second line was going to be Sonny Boy’s. “Tell me something,” Dinkleberry said. “Have you come across a video of naked boys under twelve being drawn and quartered?”
