Actually, I was more than happy to let him stare at me for hours on end, as long as it was at me. After a relatively short walk, we made it to our destination and was sitting outside at a table at the Les Deux Magots cafe. Located on the Left Bank of the Seine, it has become an iconic Parisian style cafe and was also the place where famous literary writers went to hang out and create masterpieces during the first half of the 20th century. It was Saturday, and that meant that chances are the coffee shop was going to be full of tourists, but I was determined to spend my first beautiful summer evening here. There are thousands of bookshelves, and three walls are encrusted with shelves that go from floor to ceiling, filled with books carrying stories from past eras. I feel the atmosphere is laden with serenity and enchantment, making me feel a bit small in the face of the immensity of knowledge contained in this room. Minutes later, Zahir returns with a new stack of books, some with worn covers and others almost new. He places the stack on another empty table.

Gary, in his three-piece suit and a fresh haircut, looked simply delectable tonight. "Why?" Brittany asked, turning to face him and leaning on the rails, returning his gaze. The entire library had been carpeted. The library featured massive shelves that reached all the way to the room's ceiling. A big French antique chandelier hung in the centre of the ceiling. The setting reminded me of the library in the film Beauty and the Beast. Thanks to the witches, the library was always at a comfortable temperature. There were so many different sections in the library. I walked into the romance section. The odour of ancient books and dust hit me like a domino effect. To escape reality, to take a vacation from life, to experience something different, to live a thousand times, to love a thousand times, to walk into another person's shoes, to feel, to believe…

The corridor stretches endlessly, lined with portraits whose painted eyes seem to follow us. Every step I take, I map. Every turn, every flicker of torchlight.
