When they stepped into the warehouse at Dock Twelve, the stink of ambush was heavy in the air.
Diesel. Gun oil. Sweaty nerves. And betrayal.
“Place looks dead,” Milo said, peering out from the SUV as they parked behind a stack of old shipping containers.
“It’s not,” Antonioni replied calmly, stepping out of the vehicle. “They’re in there. Snakes always hide in silence before they bite.”
He slowly, deliberately adjusted his black gloves.
The cold metal Glock on his hip was firm, very comforting.
