He placed a soft kiss on my forehead. “Are you sure you want to go home and pick up some stuff?” “I won’t have any clothes if not.” “I can take you shopping in the morning to get anything you need.” “What about to sleep in tonight?” “I can lend you a shirt,” his wicked smile was back. “Oh really, What’s with the wicked smile Mr. Thorn?” “Just imagining you in one of my shirts.” “Ok. Take me to yours.” “Are you sure?” “Yes. The longer I let the dust settle the better to be honest.”

The thin man shrugged and slapped his knee, “Alright! We need to go.” They mounted their horses, whipping the backs of the human slaves pulling the carriages, as if they were driving a sleigh led by dogs. Above the fog, Thorn followed them discreetly. The heavy mist acted as a perfect camouflage. He had a hunch that Leila’s disappearance had something to do with these men. “Did you hear something?” The thin man stopped abruptly and looked up. “Something is flapping against the wind. ” The portly man, riding on a poor, panting horse, stopped as well and listened carefully. “No. I only hear the carriages creaking. Take a look, the fog is still too.”

Two years ago, my older sister Jaslyn and I were trapped in a housefire. The firefighters told Mom she had to make a choice. They could only save one of us. Mom chose me because I was closer to the door. Later, when she learned that the fire had been caused by us breaking into the neighbor's house to steal stuff, she grabbed me by the hair and yelled at me. "Your sister Jaslyn was a model student. There's no way she would steal anything. "You're the thief! If it weren't for you, she wouldn't have died!" From then on, I wasn't allowed to eat good food or wear nice clothes. Every day, I had to kneel before Jaslyn's portrait and atone for my sins. One day, the class fund went missing at

After the seventy-eighth time my husband's mistress sent me photos of the two of them together, I posted every one of them online. The girl cried until her face was ruined, screaming that she had no way to go on living. A second later, Nathan's call came through. "Take it down." I didn't. Ten minutes after that, every social account I owned was logged into from somewhere else in the country. Posts deleted. Accounts closed. The trending topic pulled. Start to finish, it took Nathan less than ten minutes. Three days later he came to me with divorce papers and said, gently, "It's only a trick to keep her quiet. Be good. Play along." I nodded and signed. After he left, I changed my pren

The rain had dropped the temperature. Killian suddenly got up and returned with a thick blanket. “Don’t chatter your teeth for the entire movie.” I rolled my eyes and took it from him. I wrapped it around my shoulders and tried to tune out the sounds of Devon’s icky escapades. Eventually I did, but I was so caught up in the movie, I didn’t realize just how close Killian had gotten. Killian had taken up far too much of the mattress. He had one arm tucked behind his head while the other rested across his stomach. His shoulder was only a few centimetres from mine and every time he moved I could feel the heat from his body.

Losing our starting goalie mid-season would be a gut punch. After dinner, I headed to my room and pulled out the old Mites photo from my desk drawer. Me and Nora at seven, tiny pads swallowing us whole, grinning with missing teeth on that same rink. Ten years of accumulating layers, like I’d thought about before. Now it felt like one big thaw was coming. My phone buzzed. Nora. [Nora]: video analysis is brutal. these goalies are aliens. how do they move like that? I smiled and typed back.

“You're not acting like her, Briana. You can't even flash a small smile and your eyes tell it all that you are mourning.” She gave me her dark sharp eyes. “Remember, Briana. You stepped into your twin's life. Look around,” she said as we both waved our gazes at the people around us. “It might not be obvious, but they are all watching you and Theodore. You must be careful if you want to make this work.”

He was stunned and took a few steps back instead of forward. "Whoa! Be careful! It's quite a feisty one." another remarked. Suddenly the worst has yet to come. Mildred abruptly fall onto her knees. I felt my whole body shivered as in a spur momment Mildred lost all of her vim and equilibrium and completely sank unto the shallow waters of the slough. The six silver blood mercenaries were just watchful of the pain we are at. They were eeriely silent. Perhaps they already knew that we aren't going to survive before the celestial sun will take its slumber.

The reaction of these students running along with her, without the slightest of care to the way they look, was enough for her to believe this Kicked Out Midterm was really so big of a deal. From others’ point of view, they’d look as though they were on a marathon. They’d even find their expression so funny, considering that most of them had fashioned a pain look, a confused, irritated air around them, and, most of all, the sparkling little tears decorating their cheeks. If it’s to be considered a marathon, it would be unlike anything they’ve seen. They arrived at the Amphitheater’s entrance with two minutes to spare. Waiting with a list of parchment in their arrival was Sheels Hemmingworth,
