Chapter 13 The next afternoon, the sky turned completely black. A heavy, violent downpour hit the academy courtyard. The rain fell so hard it sounded like stones hitting the pavement, and a cold wind rushed through the open arches of the stone quad. I walked out of the library building, holding a small stack of paperwork under my arm to keep it dry. I didn't have an umbrella, so I pulled the hood of my oversized grey maintenance jacket over my head. The courtyard was mostly empty because of the storm. The other students had already run inside to the warm dining hall.
