Wait until she catches sight of them in the courtyard or in school grounds again. Wait until she found the courage to say the words. A breeze stirred her hair as she stepped out further, the sound of laughter rising from students heading toward the Aether Grounds. For a heartbeat, she almost wished she’d gone with Maren and Elira.

Miller. Men. I rise on shaky legs, my body still humming with adrenaline. I take a slow step away from Aiden. ”Go to class, Ombra. I’ll find you after,” he says, low and steady. I nod. ”Yes, Sir,” I murmur in automatic submission. I leave the room with Rose and Isla flanking me.
