I breathed heavily feeling myself grow weaker and weaker with each step but thank the goddess for adrenaline because I kept moving. I looked back to see how close they were which was a big mistake because not only did were they super close but I successfully caused myself to stumble on a rock causing me to fall. Only then did I realize that I was on some sort of hill and I was tumbling down.

I was too engrossed in my classmates' behavior that I forgot to pay enough attention to classes like Math and Science: classes that I was failing terribly. It happened so fast; I didn't even know what was happening until I lost my balance, tripping on the stairs facing forward. Shit. Shit. Shit. I'm so doomed. I'm going to break my neck, or maybe ankle if I am lucky. I'll suffer bruises and possible brain damage. And then I'm going to be in the newspaper, remembered as the silly student who fell both on grades and literally. Even when I was falling, I still thought about the repercussions.

"We'll figure this out together. One step at a time." I nodded, leaning my head against the window. The morning sun was rising higher now, painting the sky in soft colors. For the first time in years, I felt like I was moving toward something instead of staying trapped in pain. The road ahead was uncertain, but at least I was no longer walking it completely alone.

L’s POV • • • One would think one good turn in your life means everything will suddenly begin to go well. One good fortune and you think you have the entire world under your feet so instead of getting crushed under the heavy weight of the world, you are rather standing on it, strong and resilient, knowing you survived. But it never really ends, does it? Because even when you are on top of the world, you can always fall.
