“The point is, nobody else has been doing what you want to do,” Shelley says, leaning against the window and tracing lines into the mist her breath is making. “Making changes is hard. It’s easier for most people to just do the same thing, day after day, even if they hate it. It needs someone else to start doing things differently. Then people can follow them, but they have someone else to blame if the changes make things even worse.”
“That’s a very cynical point of view,” Sarah says, then sighs. “But it’s probably accurate. You have Russel’s support now, anyway.”
