I couldn't read anything from him while waiting for what I'm about to say. "The man you own as your husband is my real husband. I'm the legal wife!" I firmly said. She furrowed her brows and walked towards me. "What did you say?!" she said shakily. "You heard it right? His real name was Hezekiah Leric Grant! And I am his legal wife!" Shock registered on her face, lips quivered so bad. Her knees suddenly weakened. Her eyes pooled with tears as she tried to catch her breath while holding her chest.

The woman stumbled back under the force of their united glare, stammering something before turning and bolting out of the lobby like a frightened rabbit. Adrian just stood there, blinking. His wives turned back to him, dusting off his sleeves, smoothing his shirt, fixing his collar like twin generals dressing their soldier. “You poor thing,” Charlotte teased. “So cute women can’t leave you alone.”

He doesn’t even spare me a glance. “Lena is not a slave, and I need her to…” “Go” he cuts me off. “The woman would not be leaving.” “But…” “That’s final. Now leave Maria.” Walter roars with laughter along with the scantily dressed women perched on his laps. “Dear me! I’ve heard about the way you discipline the women in your household, but I didn’t think it extended to even your wife.” Cheeks burning in humiliation, I hurry out of the room with Walter’s maid before Sebastain can say something worse.

I discovered something very strange about my marriage that morning. Apparently, husbands and wives in this house didn't behave like a married couple.
