"As for your clothes, I handled that myself. You were in no fit state to do it yourself." Serena flushed, her cheeks burning with embarrassment at the thought of this stern, judgmental woman seeing her in such a vulnerable state. Are you stupid?"a maid that came right behind her hit her shoulder a little. "You're new?"I asked the one that had just greeted me and she nodded. I chuckled. No wonder. I can't wrap my finger why we have so many maids in this house with just three of us living in it - or maybe two,since I'm invincible.

“Mrs Harris, should we go ahead?,”Amelia was lost in thought that she was deaf to the maid’s question. “Mrs Harris, should I commence the cleaning?” She said again with a higher pitch and Amelia was forced to listen.she gave her a doubtful look and rubbed her protruding belly nervously.In Pamela’s absence,she was the woman of the house,she shouldn't be too scared to do the needful. “Go ahead Martha.” A boost of confidence filled her heart,the handmaid send a signal to the rest of the idle maids who followed her into the darkest room in the mansion.

Inside the house, everything looked too perfect, too clean to be real. The walls were painted pure white, so white that they almost glowed under the golden lights. The floor reflected everything, smooth and shiny like glass. Even the air smelled expensive. My eyes caught the line of maids standing by the wall, each one dressed in a neat black and white uniform. They stood in a perfect row, hands folded in front of them, eyes down. None of them dared to look at me. It was as if I were something sacred or cursed. “Our lady’s room has been arranged,” said one of them. She was older than the rest, with sharp eyes, her hair neatly pinned back. From the way she spoke, I knew she was the chief maid

He waved a hand in the direction of a small kitchenette. “Can I get you something to drink? Water? I think I have some soda.” “No, I’m fine,” she replied and clasped her hands tightly in her lap, looking around the cabin. It was temperamental and had a distinctly masculine and transient feel to it. There were two leather jackets dangling from a coat hanger and a few hardcover books and scripts scattered on the table. “I have to say, you are just about the last person I would ever expect to see at my door.”

After three months away, I was finally home. I asked the house's male housekeeper, Jacob Miller, to give me a hand carrying my luggage upstairs. Jacob hoisted the suitcase but had barely taken a few steps when—bang—the luggage crashed to the floor. He clutched his wrist, wincing in pain. The noise startled the three women on the sofa. They jumped up and rushed toward him, surrounding him with frantic questions, fussing as if he were about to shatter. They scrambled for ointment, massaging his wrist with careful fingers, treating him like fragile porcelain.

Vero did not lend a hand. She didn’t want to clean up this dingy place that would take a month to clean.

Chapter 3 Ella's POV The servants hall was a separate four-storey building located at the East side of the mansion with it's very on pool, pond and garden On the first floor, there was a dainty lobby with padded chairs and tea table. A television set hanging on the wall, a Glassdoor fridge full of fruit drinks (I was dying to get one, perhaps, a grape flavor), a coffee machine and a counter with yummy looking cakes and pastries,( wait, is that a croissant)

Ray had made it clear that the parents had warned them to stay clear of my path. I didn't want to lose my only job, I couldn't afford to. A few hours later, I had already changed Bryson's beddings, made Ray's bed and now I was unpacking. The room was pretty good for a housemaid like me. It had a canopy bed, dresser, Tv cabinet and a walk in wardrobe. I only had a few clothes, the closet was so big for my few old tees and sweats. I didn't own any jewellery, not even a single pair of earrings. Mmmh I'll just leave my clothes in the suitcase like before, and just take out my toothbrush.
