The Alpha and the Rental Luna
Holding my breath, I wait to hear a response.
Every wolf in every cage falls silent. Even the wolves who were not linked to me seem to understand that something momentous has just occurred, and they look at me with wide, searching eyes.
“I am no threat to you,” I promise as I let a bit of glow touch my skin. “I won’t let them take me and my pups. Please help me protect my children and your children too.”
A light appears at the end of the tunnel, and I let my hands shift, becoming gleaming claws covered in bright red fur. Tilting my head upward, I howl, its sorrowful note echoing up through the chamber, a desperate plea begging the others to stand with me.
