The Life-Changing Trip
She sat across from me, gently tracing the rim of her cup with her fingers, never lifting her eyes.
Finally, she softly said, "From now on…we shouldn't do that again."
I nodded.
I had no words to argue with her.
She smiled faintly, though the smile did not look as natural as before.
"Let's just treat that time as…an accident."
An accident.
The word left a bitter taste in my chest.
However, I knew she was right.
For a while after that, we truly drifted apart. We spoke less often and only met when it was necessary. Reason slowly took control again, and life seemed to return to its proper course.
