🦋 BENITA 🦋 This morning is exceptionally strange, even more so than the countless weird mornings before it. Today is the 25th of September, 2024, a day I absolutely refuse to accept. If only night could stretch on indefinitely and day could be cut short—or better yet, if there should be no day at all. I couldn’t help but think something terrible was going to happen, and deep down, I was preparing myself for it. No bad news was going to meet me unaware again.

-KAIZI- The day after tomorrow is our Day off. Now, I know why these three are so hyped up they even got me involved. "That's the sets of rules outside and inside the base," Rald threw a book to me while I'm quietly sitting on my bed. I crossed my legs and placed the thin normal-size book on my lap. It is mint-green. "Rules and regulations," I scanned the front and opened the book, skipping the introduction, and stopped on the table of contents.

The day before was a chaotic mess of yelling, silence, and emotional whiplash, but the visit to Tony's apartment is a bright spot that has followed me into today. Then I turned and picked up my mother's twentieth call this month urging me to marry. "Hello, Mom," I said, my voice steady. "I'll come home next Wednesday. Set up the arranged marriage in the village for me. I'll marry him."

As I lost consciousness, I saw Levi running toward me. When I woke up again, the smell of disinfectants filled the air, and Levi sat beside me. As soon as he noticed I was awake, he grabbed my hand tightly. He asked, "Caitlyn, are you feeling better?" I yanked my hand away and remained silent, knowing that words would not matter. Levi grew anxious when he saw my empty stare. "Caitlyn, please say something. Don't shut me out like this, okay?"
