Their masks remained untouched. Edward spread his empty hands. "I've hidden among them for forty years." "I learned how they think." "I learned what they fear." Adrian narrowed his eyes. "And what do they fear?" Edward looked toward the blank space where Adrian's name was still slowly being carved into the clock. "They fear someone who asks questions before accepting answers." The sentence lingered in Adrian's mind. Then another thought struck him. "If you've been alive all this time..." "Why didn't you find Thomas?" A shadow crossed Edward's face.

I watched Thomas's fury without a flicker of concern. After all, Edward had let me down one too many times. Why would I care about his fate? His trouble was my relief. Gasping for air, Edward begged, "Mr. Ferguson, it wasn't on purpose. Please let me go this time." Thomas eased his grip, his warning clear as day. "Leave now, and if you ever bother my wife again, you'll see no mercy from me." Finally, Edward was tossed out like yesterday's trash. Sitting at the doorstep, Edward was lost in thought.

They stared at each other for several minutes, until Thomas finally averted his eyes. "You can visit Elena, but don't claim to be her father. Just say you're her uncle." "You dare mess with..." "You're not in a lucky position right now, Edward Brown. This gun will blow your daughter's head faster than my wife's. Take it or leave it." This time, it was Edward who clenched his fists. He still needed time to make a phone call, whereas Thomas' men could pull the trigger in a split second. Gritting his jaw, he finally nodded.

She smiled, and promptly followed in his wake. As they again entered the lounge, Edward announced, ‘‘I’ve had enough fresh air to last me a decade; and I’m quite ready to leave.’’ He stooped to retrieve the oblong case from its place against the bookshelf, and tucked it under his arm. ‘‘Oh, but they haven’t yet heard you play!’’ Exclaimed Nomthunzi, half rising from her seat in surprise. ‘‘Did you know, Miriam, Edward plays the cornett marvelously.’’

Meryl giggled while Kathy stared blankly into the air. Once Edward took leave from his friends, he hurried towards the high school building that was a few miles away. He had already chosen his next victims. Both were high school students and were close friends. Edward always enjoyed pursuing, confusing and surprising his victims and he was sure that his new adventure was going to be fun.

It was certain Edward had made everything go his way and now he understood it was all a planned act. As he sat with his head in his hands, his phone once again distracted him from his thoughts. “Hello..” Edward anywhere without taking note of the caller ID. "What have you been doing huh?” the thundering voice of Robert resounded through the phone. Edward did not know what to tell his friend.

“How could you keep that secret from me?” “You would’ve told Evan. Besides, Nelson said not to tell you,” I said. Levi’s frown deepened. “It’s honor among ladies.” “Ugh, women,” Edward shook his head. “So are you going to finally pay me for months of childcare without any breaks?” “Well, you couldn’t get him to speak a full sentence,” I teased, bouncing Remus lightly. “Hey, if you wanted a prodigy, you should’ve left him with palace scholars, not some soldier from the farm. He knows all the sounds farm animals make. Consider that progress—and pay up,” Edward held out his hand.

Little wooden toys scattered near the fireplace. Thomas slowly looked around. His eyes paused on one framed picture. A family standing together. Elena. Adrian. Lily. Ava. Peanut. And... Someone had been standing near the edge. The picture frame was cracked. That corner had faded. Thomas leaned closer. His heart beat strangely. There should have been another person there. He knew it. He couldn't see the face. Couldn't remember the name. Yet the empty space bothered him. Then Lily noticed where he was looking.

Thomas said and Brandon stared at all of them and just then he saw Jeff, staring at him. “Oh wow, the devil agent is here, " he thought and then looked away from him. “Brandon” Mr Edward called as he stood up and walked towards Brandon and they both exchanged handshakes. “How are you Mr Edward, I'm sorry I haven't come to see you,” Brandon said and Edward smiled. “We can always see and talk any time. Let's enjoy the party” Edward said as he sat down and they all smiled. He then turned to Thomas. “I would love to speak with you in private Mr Thomas” Brandon said and Thomas wondered what he had wanted to talk about.
