Three Pines Review Novels & Stories

Pine was in one of the rooms located on the third floor of the west area of Haltz castle. Since her arrival here, she has not opened her eyes at all. In her sleep she kept delirious. There wasn't much that Al could do as the second person in charge of the Haltz government, he could only monitor the state of this woman. Her tense face showed that Pine was having a bad dream. Her forehead was full of sweat, and her lips kept spewing nonsense words.

Three days gone, and Silverpine feels both too small and far too big. The woods part at last, the pines opening to the familiar clearing—smoke curling from the packhouse, chickens squabbling by the door, Fen hauling firewood while Agatha kneads bread on the porch steps. Nothing’s changed, and everything has.

Fire in the Pines The Pearl Pack Alpha House was tense the morning the courier arrived. The scent of irritation clung to the halls as Jalen tore open the sealed envelope stamped with Pine Wood’s crest. His eyes scanned the parchment once, then again, his hands tightening until the paper crumpled in his fists. “Three days,” he snarled, slamming the invitation down on the table. “Three gods-damned days.”

Melanie's eyes flashed with anger, and suddenly she clutched her stomach while exclaiming, "My stomach... Is the baby coming?!" Henry's face twisted in sudden panic, and he swept Melanie into his arms, bolting for the door. As he rushed by, Melanie's hand shot out, gripping my arm with a fierce tug. I stumbled, crashing to the ground as Wren's gasp echoed in my ears. Pain washed over me, turning my face ghostly pale. Wren, shaking, lifted me up, her voice breaking as she called for a doctor. Through the blur, I caught Henry hesitating for a split second, but then, he was gone, not once looking back.

Three years after I was dead, Andrew Lorne and his mother, Dorothy Evans, came to the countryside to take me back. The moment the heavily rusted iron gates creaked open and the weed-choked yard came into view, their expressions soured. "That jinx, Jovana! Look at what she's done to our family residence," Dorothy grumbled, furiously yanking away the blades of grass in her way as she stormed inside. Her eyes burned with fury as she hollered, "Where is she? She doesn't even bother to clean the house! It took us a great deal to come all the way here, yet she doesn't even want to show up!

I let out a chuckle as I remember the looks on everyone’s faces; I swear if I ever needed someone murdered these would be the guys who would do it for me. “Yeah, I know what you mean. How do you wish someone luck for testifying at a trial for attempted murder?” Michelle laughs, but the sound is hollow and forced. Quickly, she changes the subject as she flicks on the next movie on our list. “Time to get your a capella on,” Michelle murmurs making a dive for the popcorn I am holding in my hands. “I so love Pitch Perfect,” I sigh, losing myself in the film as the first scene opens.

Before graduation, my boyfriend, Ethan Johnson and I planned a cross-country road trip. My roommate, Juliet Miller, kindly offered to organize our itinerary. On departure day, her luggage sat in the front seat. Her phone was connected to the car console. The only bed bore a tag ‘Juliet’s Spot.’ Ethan patted my head with a casual smile. “Juliet gets carsick in the back. Be good and sleep on the roof tent.” Driving through the desert that night, they left me at a gas station to guard our gear while they shot stargazing videos. I waited until dawn. Then Juliet posted a photo in our group chat. She wore my jacket in the passenger seat. Ethan’s arm rested behind her chair. My parents

Even if she didn’t know I was there. The Pines Resort sat nestled between two lakes and surrounded by pine trees that stretched toward the sky. It was way too fancy for what Naya had called a “chill weekend for a group project,” but that was Naya for you; everything had to be dramatic. I parked behind the main lodge and stepped out into the crisp mountain air, tugging my jacket straight as I headed toward the guest cabins. I didn’t even make it ten steps before someone noticed me. “Oh my god, is that Luca Moretti?”

The journey to Puncak felt like a descent into a black hole ready to swallow anything that came near. The black SUV cut through thick fog blanketing the winding uphill road, while the drizzle turned into a raging storm pounding against the windshield. Inside the car, the silence between Dewangga and Vivian was more suffocating than the thunder outside. Vivian sat in the passenger seat, her slender fingers gripping her leather bag tightly. Her eyes stared straight ahead, but her thoughts were clearly fixed on the adoption documents she had just read. Her father’s betrayal was a fresh wound, sharpening her hatred toward Davian.

Zelda burst into the room. “Brie” she shouted I blinked. “What on earth—?” “You need to hear this!” she exclaimed, nearly bouncing with excitement. I sighed. “Can it wait?” “No! Absolutely not.” She slipped inside, shutting the door behind her, and revealed a bundle of clothes hidden under her cloak. Her eyes were wide with excitement. “The triplet Alphas of the Obsidian Fang pack are in town. Triplets, Brie And they’re, gods help me—too gorgeous for words. They’re all tall, gorgeous. They are carved like warriors out of stone. I nearly fainted just hearing about them.”
