Bloodbound Destiny
A crack of thunder shook the air when the lightning impacted my shield, as though Thor himself had walked out of the sky and into combat.
My ears are ringing. The light stung my eyes, and I knelt frozen in place, blind and deaf, until, slowly, the lights dispersed and the ringing abated.
Revealing a hole where the gate had been, a huge chunk of the wall lying in rubble, the child of Thor gone. Dumbfounded, I peered at the flaming debris, charred remnants of humanity sitting atop blackened and smoldering wood.
