She dumped stuffed animals into a blue tote, Matchbox cars into an old Quaker Oats container, then closed the door.
Brushing something with her elbow.
A piece of paper fluttered to her feet.
She knelt and picked it up, shivering, though she wasn’t sure why. It was a picture showing two childlike stick figures. The shorter one wore a red T-shirt and blue pants. With scribbled black hair over a round smiley-face, it was obviously Timmy.
The other figure was taller and wider. All black but scuffed around the edges. Its most striking feature: black wings instead of arms, and blazing red eyes. Scrawled over it, Timmy’s childish script read: MR. NOBODY.
