SEVEN YEARS LATER •Cassie’s POV• “Cara, sweetheart, where are you?” I called out as I walked up the stairs toward my five-year-old daughter’s room. My eyes drifted to the diamond watch on my wrist, I had less than thirty minutes before I’d be late for my husband’s launch party. “Cara!” I called again, pushing open her door. I stopped by the doorway and smiled. She was standing in front of her mirror, struggling to fix a pink bow on her ponytail.

I sigh and turn to look at him with a tentative smile. He cocks a brow and taps the watch on his wrist. "Well. . . don't just stand there, time is money." I nod and he seems satisfied and walks inside, with me fast on his heels. Stepping into the club is like stepping into another world. Every surface of where the walls should have been is turned into a mirror-like screen with videos playing images of swirling shapes, scenery, and dancing bodies which all seem to move to the beat of the EDM music blaring through the air.

Arrogance oozed from Timothy as he happily spoke up. I twisted around in his hold, knowing Timothy was doing something hilarious. His slice of cake was no longer in his hold. It was placed on the table before him in a clumsy toss. Arms folded firmly across his chest, his chin tilted up in a complacent gesture. His nose was pointed high into the air, chest puffed out in a confident huff. "I'm not going to tell you though. Maybe if you haven't ignored me, I would be more compliant to help you. My smile froze. A haggard Timothy darkened our doorstep. He seemed to have missed sleep, and in his hands were a big Hello Kitty plushie and a cake. My prolonged absence made Tabitha curious. She came to me and was surprised to see Timothy. However, Timothy was smiling at us like he'd done nothing wrong in his life. "Hi, Tabitha. I'm here to celebrate your birthday." Tabitha looked at him, then at me, then she gave him a sidelong glance. "Today's not my birthday, and I don't like Hello Kitty."

Tim asks why Amy turned him down, which is whenever a lady first chases him away, since every young lady who approaches quickly gives a number and doesn't have to say two words. He took a gander at Amy and leaned closer to Amy, Amy leaned back slightly. "Why are you kicking me out?" Tim asked him truthfully. "Aren't you one of the individuals in the Second Chance Band?" Amy asked him. "Correct, that's me, I'm the bassist!" Tim is excited. "All things considered, everything considered, you're going to have a bunch of popular girls; you're just going to welcome them out! Alright, bye!" After saying this Amy quickly became confused and left him.

After saying that, he tossed down a stack of cash. As he watched Faye eat tiny bites, his eyes slowly drifted. Then Faye looked up. Their eyes met. Both of them froze. Then their faces turned red. Something shifted quietly between them. Twenty-eight-year-old Jace seemed satisfied. He turned the camera toward himself, contempt dripping from his voice.

Tim laughed and said, “I said I'd give you ten seconds to think about it. Now, time is up.” After saying that, Tim's eyes turned cold as he ordered, “Tiger Knights, listen to my command. Take them down!” An angry shout resounded throughout the place! Thud, thud, thud! In an instant, the thunderous sound of footsteps filled the small square outside the residence!
