Dani waved goodbye, clearly satisfied with her handiwork in making us scream together.
“Drive carefully,” I muttered, trying to calm my racing heart.
“I am driving carefully,” Taranis said, though I could tell he was still jittery.
We made small talk, mostly teasing each other about who had screamed more.
“You screamed first,” I accused, nudging him.
“Nope,” he shot back. “You did, I just…yelled in solidarity.”
“Solidarity?” I repeated, laughing. “You mean like a scared little puppy?”
“Fine,” he said, smirking, “you scream first. Happy?”
