Afterward, Theo put on a movie, some action flick he’d seen a hundred times but still enjoyed. Willow curled up next to him on the couch, her head resting against his chest, but she wasn’t paying attention. Her mind kept circling back to the note. “The one with the fire hair. The wolf with two souls. She is the key. Find her. Bring her. Or he will come.” A shiver ran through her. Theo shifted beside her. “You’re thinking about it.” Willow exhaled. “I can’t help it.” His arms tightened around her, his thumb brushing idly against her arm. “We’ll figure it out.”

Willow got out of the car and breathed in the crisp afternoon air. The lodge was beautiful, overlooking the forest and the banks of the Lee River. A pang of sadness came over her, wishing she could have been there with Zoey. Two officers followed from the car, assigned to accompany Willow for the week. One was a woman named Chelsea. She was two years Willow's senior. The other officer's name was Derek. The officers were communicative and put Willow at ease during the drive to Riverlodge.

The emergency response protocols were included as well. "You had this all prepared in advance?" Willow asked as she glared at him furiously. "You've been planning this from the start." Theodore suddenly took an interest in that worthless piece of land in Westhill because he wanted to target her instead of Strand Real Estate. Theodore's gaze remained fixed on the road ahead. He then smirked as he said, "The choice is yours." Willow was so angry she nearly tore the document apart. However, the land was in his hands, and he held all the power.
