After completing the task, I pour myself another drink and head to the library to gather all the books that discuss prophecies. As I walk through the shelves of the library, I can feel the weight of the books in my hands. I scan the titles, searching for any that might hold the answers I seek. My eyes land on a thick, leather-bound tome with the word "Prophecies" etched in gold on the cover. I pull it from the shelf and flip through the pages, my heart racing with anticipation. As I read through the ancient texts, I begin to piece together the clues that will help me unravel the mystery of the prophecy. The page race from the beginning to the end and then settle on the first page. "I couldn't open the book without the password, so how did the uncles expect me to read it," I say. Mother Agnes chuckles. "They knew you would come here," she says. I think for a moment. I feel like the last few days have been an endless maze of puzzles. Why can't they just tell me what the hell is going on and who I am? Maybe sit me down and say hey, this is what we need from you. I guess that would be too simple, or maybe they are taking precautions.

There was a book. Zipping up his pants, he walked over to the bedside table, his face reflecting shock and curiosity. The book appeared ancient, judging by its cover and intricate design. What puzzled him most was that it hadn't been there just minutes ago. How had it materialized? With a sense of intrigue, Liam reached for the book, carefully cradling it in his arms. 'This is odd.' he thought to himself as he glanced at the book.

He scrambled to retrieve the phone, his breath hitching as he tried messaging me instead, but only exclamation marks flashed on the screen. Panic clawed at his chest. He tore downstairs and sped home, but the empty house greeted him like a tomb. I had been long gone, and my beloved specimens had vanished from the shelves, too. The relentless ticking of the clock was the only sound, a cruel reminder that this wasn't some nightmare he could wake from. His mind went blank, grasping for anything to hold onto. Then he remembered the invitation I had thrown at him, one that he had dismissed as a childish jab.

Fuck, she makes me feel everything. "It is indeed a good morning," I say wrapping more of her wild hair around her ear so I can see her face better. "Sorry, I fell asleep," she says. I'm not sorry. I didn't want to get into her Dad's allegations last night and even though she wasn't happy about it she asked me to read her the book she had grabbed off my book shelf. One of my favorites. It's a mystery novel about two mates who find each other while they are both trying to catch the same serial killer that's on the loose.

They keep law books on the second floor mezzanine, which is potentially the darkest and creepiest area of this place. Once I get to the top of the stairs, I glance down at the piece of paper with the title of the book on. Legendary assassins and their downfall. The shelves are all sorted in alphabetical order, so I find L fast and then search through the plethora of books, looking for the one I need. The same creeping sensation that I’m being watched sweeps over me as I glance down onto the ground floor level toward the door, wondering if I wouldn’t have heard someone enter. “What are you looking for?”

I did my best to take care not to scratch the leather, but when it fell into my arms, I noticed what looked like a fresh dig. Books were not as common in that era as they were in the future so I felt bad about causing damage to it. My lamenting lasted only briefly. An intense curiosity took over just as soon as I realized that it was a journal. It was not just any journal, either. This journal belonged to the late Elsbeth Sleuth. Could the deep, dark family secret be discovered within its pages? I simply had to find out. After repositioning myself back onto it, I spread the afghan over both of us. After thanking me, profusely, for the warmth, she cocked her head in mock thought. “Such a mystery. He doesn’t want us to rob a bank with him or something, does he? Tell me he’s not broke and this isn’t all a façade.” “If only he just wanted us to rob a bank,” I said in a whiny tone. “I could handle that a lot better, I think.” “Don’t leave me in suspense, Esmerelda,” she scolded. “You know how I hate it. That’s why I could never do what you do. I can’t stand mystery.”

Lastly, do note that this is not a horror book, but they are traces of horror in it (depending on the readers perspective). Unless the author makes a mistake, the main genre of the book is a mystery, and will only be known, after the book is completed. It has never been my goal to impress my sister with anything I do. I scroll through the books in the library until I come to my favourite section, Mystery. I always love the thrill that comes with not knowing what's going to happen next. You can make it more interesting for yourself if you start to wonder what is happening and what will happen.
