“She’ll probably spend the whole holiday in here if you let her.” I walked the aisles slowly, trailing my fingers over the books. Classics. Thrillers. A whole section of contemporary romance—Mirabel’s doing, mostly. She’d started collecting them in high school, said they were “escapist but smart.” I’d never read them. Too many happy endings. Too much hope wrapped in pretty words. I pulled one down at random. Dark cover, brooding man in a suit, and title written in gold foil: Claimed by the Billionaire. I snorted softly, then slid it back.

Carefully, I slide the book from her lap and flip to the first page. It’s a romance novel. Women read about the kind of men they want, right? It doesn’t mean anything. It won’t hurt if I actually like the kind of guy she’d be into. It’d make our act more convincing. That’s all. I flip open the book and let my eyes skim the first few lines. She knew she shouldn’t want him. He was trouble, wrapped in a smile that made her forget her own name. I pause. That’s... intense.

His smile was warm, but it only made the ache in my chest grow stronger. I smiled back, but deep down I was upset. I really wished he’d had just left. Anyways, I went ahead to sit beside Cole, who had already taken a spot beside him. The cushions were soft, almost too soft, and they seemed to swallow me whole as I sank into them. My eyes picked out the title of the book that he was reading. It was “Bound by Hatred.” This was one of my favorite dark romance novels I read as a teen. The sight of it brought back a flood of memories, bittersweet and poignant.

I didn't miss out the taunting,almost mocking tone of his voice but she was already in the game Kingston started She was turned to face Kingston who did not give her a second to think before giving her a fervent kiss .Her hands left her dress as she moaned into his mouth and wrapped her hands around his neck.. With Kingston the good days were few so she learnt to embrace them . Kingston guided her to the room ,I was lost in his arms to even notice, not until she was placed on the bed.He trailed kisses down to her cleavages and a desperate moan left her throat.

She started the book but put it down. There were so many questions in her mind.

It was kind of adorable, actually.

“It’s… complicated.” “Complicated means hot,” she says, eyes sparkling. “It’s Damien Wolfe,” I mutter. Maya gasps so hard I’m afraid she might choke. “Mr. Penthouse?! Mr. Tall, dark, ruined-your-womb-with-a-glance Damien Wolfe?!” I groan. “You make it sound worse.” She grabs a pillow and clutches it dramatically. “Girl, you are playing with the kind of fire that burns souls. That man is a volcano in a suit.”
