Nate's POV " Damn," I said as I sprawled on one of the couches in my large bedroom. I liked my room dark, so all the curtains were closed, the fans helped keep the room cool...just the way I like it. When the fire burned low, Eilad rose to leave. "I will wait for you," he said, taking both of her hands in his. "However long it takes. I am not going anywhere." Tori walked him to the door. He kissed her forehead, soft and tender, and stepped out into the night. She watched him go, her heart full and aching. She loved him. She trusted him. But she was not ready to leave Hecate. Not yet. Not while the danger was still so close. The door closed. The fire crackled. And Tori stood alone in the quiet cottage, caught between the mate who wanted her future and the friend who needed her present.

I was bouncing on his thighs in excitement when he squeezed my legs, keeping me still. “You might want to stop that.” He whispered so low I almost couldn’t hear him.
