What was wrong? Hazel tried to resist, but he kissed her deeper and deeper, her eyes began to blur, and as she seemed to be losing the last ounce of her sanity. Not far away, someone had a phone and secretly took a photo of Joshua kissing her. Whoever took the picture immediately sent it to Isaac. “... Fuck!” Isaac couldn’t help cursing. Joshua was bad enough. To get him to give up on Hazel, he asked people to send him photos of them together. Who could bear it?

Isaac groaned. There were so many pictures of him and Ella from the night before. Dancing at the club, stumbling down the beach, boarding the yacht. In one particularly damning shot, someone was pouring vodka in his mouth while three women in skimpy bikinis hung off of him. “Fuck,” he muttered. This was bad. Really bad. He hadn’t actually done anything sexual, but the narrative seemed to be that Isaac had gone on an orgy bender with his alleged flame, Ella.

His face went over a dozen frowns, grimaces and twists of surprise, fear and disbelief when he realized it wasn’t a camera glitch and the sticks were lining out what was actually there. “Holy shit! “Mate.” The next thing I knew or heard was a loud roar and then I was pinned to the wall. In the blink of an eye, Isaac transformed from the frightening but majestic black wolf to his human form. Hair dishevelled, eyes wild and gloriously naked. He didn’t waste any time to claim my lips and under the spell of heat, I hardly resisted.

“Did he hurt you?” “I’m fine.” He gently peeled my hands off him and stepped back. “The guy didn’t do anything, he just wanted to talk.” “Talk?” My voice shot up an octave. “What did he say? What did he want?” Isaac shrugged as he spoke. “He said he was looking for someone, then he showed me a picture of you. Well—of Evangeline. I recognized you right away.” My stomach dropped as he went on.

He focused intently on every detail, every feature, every curve. The heavy silence hung in the air while Isaac's haunted eyes hunted for almost the very soul of the woman in the picture. Adrian could do little but watch in horror, his heart beating so hard against his chest that it threatened to burst. Could it actually be possible? That Isaac's sister, and his wife, were the same person? They seemed to hang in the air waiting for an answer.

How did you wind up like… that?” Jessica and the others crowded around, all of us straining to catch Isaac’s next words as he blinked owlishly with unseeing eyes.
