The torches outside were still burning when I met Camerin in the war room. The table between us was littered with maps, patrol rosters, and half-written reports. The stink of blood and smoke clung to me, but I didn’t care.
Camerin looked up from the parchment he was scrawling on. His eyes were flat, hard. “Two spies in less than a week, Alpha. That means there are more.”
“I know.” My voice came out rough. I rubbed a hand over my face, trying to push away the memory of Darren’s last words. “Jaxson’s too careful to waste assets this quickly. He’s been planting them for months.”
