Natalie breathed in the scent that was both soft and distinctly Rowan. Surprise filled her eyes. She didn't know if it was all the drinks she'd had earlier, or if her mind was working a little slower, or if anything else caused her delayed response, but she did not react right away. As a result, the scene that had only ever happened in her dream suddenly took place in real life—Rowan, seemingly possessed, was sucking on her mouth. Natalie snapped out of her daze and gave the overly audacious man before her a hard shove. The next second, a low grunt escaped Rowan, and he instinctively clutched and pressed the left side of his chest.

But it felt like I was fading away. I noticed my body becoming transparent, and I could see the road to the afterlife, lined with flowers. At the other end of that road, a little girl with pigtails seemed to be calling out to me, "Mom." My body started drifting uncontrollably toward the light, and behind me, I heard Zac screaming desperately. I did not want to turn back. I never owed Zac anything. But love could make people lose their way. I loved Zac for so many years.

My breath came in shallow gasps, each one trembling as if the air itself had turned heavy. It wasn’t just shock. It felt deeper. Something primal. When her gaze locked with mine, a connection formed between us. I sensed that this was more than just a coincidence.

It was a period of transformation. Was all that loudness mere distractions? If a person wears his heart in his sleeves, then what does he hide beneath that chest? How can the silence be so mean and unforgiving? Does the refusal to speak simply means that there was nothing to be said anymore? In thirty days, a butterfly's life will be complete, coming out of the cocoon as a changed and majestic creature. But humans aren't butterflies and thirty days weren't enough. In thirty days, you're world can turn upside down. You can learn a new way to breathe. You can grow into something you've never imagined to be. You can laugh like you never did before.

My reality seems to be all mixed up right now, and there is no way for me to know what's real and what isn’t. What am I supposed to do?”

I did what I always do, breathing exercises. “Every time you feel you're not in control of yourself, you just need to take time to remind yourself that you're still alive, this is your reality. You are in your reality, Hailey..” I hear a familiar manly voice which usually calms me down whenever this happens to me. “Hailey.. breathe for me. Take slow breaths for me.” I hear yaya’s warm voice, another memory. I did just that, I breathed in and out. I look around, Dara and Inez’s worried gaze are on me. Suddenly I felt relieved, relieved that I have them with me here. I have other people in my reality now.
