The sound of collapsing bricks mixed with the sound of my own transformation. The building was coming down. Through the pain, I glanced toward Daphne. A heavy beam tilted above her. Without hesitation, I lunged toward her and covered her body with mine just as debris rained down. Bricks slammed into my back. Metal scraped across my shoulders. I shielded her from every hit. My transformation completed mid-impact. Fur burst through the skin. My body expanded, muscles thickened, bones reshaped into something larger, stronger. I stood over her fully shifted, massive and protective.

Underfoot, the earth made room. What had changed in them would not be unlearned. Ronan’s command had acquired tenderness, which was not softness but accuracy; Selene’s clarity had acquired warmth, which was not blur but kindness; Mirra’s care had acquired edges, which were not fences but thresholds. They had not traded selves. They had braided them.

Really understood. "What you experienced isn't something most people can comprehend," Dr. Chen said during their first session. Calm. Professional. "You traveled to a realm where reality is optional. "I can if you help me. I see you're strong. If I distract them then you can-" "Stop." Beef interrupted. She stood up and shakily walked over to Hope and I, stepping on the others that stood in her way. A few hissed out in pain as she trampled them but none protested against this intimidating female. She leaned down and pulled at Hope's torn shirt and pulled her close till their noses nearly touched. "If you don't shut your mouth right now-"

"This is what we wanted. I'm becoming stronger." Adrian grabs me. Pulls me against his chest. His hands move over my transformed body like he's checking for injuries. Like he's convincing himself I'm still me. "You're different," Adrian says. His voice is ragged. Raw. "I'm the same," I say. "Just... enhanced. Adrian, I'm still me." He pulls back slightly and studies my face. My transformed skin glowing beneath his hands. "You're mine," Adrian says. It's not a question. It's a recognition. A claiming. "The entire paranormal world can see it now. You're marked as mine."

It went on like that until I found myself drifting on the rocking waves of sleep. I woke up the next morning, bright and ecstatic, eager for my transformation. I shut my eyes tight as I called on my first transformation. It took a while, but after an awfully long amount of time, I felt it. I felt my bones twist and turn into unnatural angles, the transformation digging deep into my skin. My joy knew no bounds at what happened next. It was a low whisper and almost barely existent, but I heard it, so clearly that it reverberated deep in my bones.

The transformation complete, Emma sat on the grass beside me. Her face tilted up toward me, expression curious and slightly vulnerable in the moonlight. "Thank you for that," she said softly. "Artemis had fun." Her words were simple, but they triggered a cascade of emotion within me. Aeson pushed, eager to reclaim our human form, to speak with our mate face to face. I surrendered to the familiar heat of transformation, feeling my massive Lycan body contract and reshape. The process was swift but intense – bones reconfiguring, muscles redistributing, fur receding into skin.
