I wouldn’t let him carry this fire.
“I bled for this pack,” I said, low, rough. “I bled when half of you looked away. I bled when your precious fated Luna turned your heads. Don’t you dare speak of what I cost when you were too blind to see what was being stolen from you.”
Gasps cut the chamber wide open.
The Elder’s eyes glinted, sharp as frost. He leaned back, voice almost amused.
“And yet here you are, standing in front of us, unbroken. Remarkable, isn’t it? That so many speak against you—and still you claim the right to lead.”
