I am trapped by my own worlds and thoughts and it is so hard to break free as I was being trapped in a literal way. Once again, I am trapped into the unknown.

“I brought her into this. I dragged a shy innocent girl into something she never asked for. Now she’s lying here, and I don’t know if she’ll ever open her eyes again.” My heart dropped. Ever open my eyes again? No. No, that can't be right. I was trying to open them now. I was trying so hard it felt like my whole mind was straining against invisible chains, but my body wouldn’t listen. Fear swallowed me whole. I was awake. I was here. I could hear every word. But somehow… I was trapped inside myself. And no one knew.

I am deceived by my own mind, so I want to be everywhere but out of it. My intensity is consuming everything within me, and I expect everyone to be the same, which is never the case. It feels like I am watching myself lose every bit of my being to something I can’t fully understand. I no longer trust myself and this makes me doubt everyone who has access to my life.

The thought made bile rise in my throat. Had I called it down on myself? Or was someone else’s sin staining me? The monitor beeped steadily, indifferent. The fluorescent light hummed. A moth circled the lamp above, beating its wings against the glass. I was trapped. In this room. In my mind. In the story everyone else was telling about me.

Only I don’t think she realized just the way I depended upon her. My mind was my own worst enemy at times. Battling against itself as it created completely unreasonable and unbelievable scenarios that would take over my thoughts. Day and night. Those thoughts would become enough to run away with themselves. They gained a mind of their own and could take over. They became too much for me. These thoughts were repetitive. Painful. And had a habit of coming to my mind with little to now help. Little to no prompting. It was enough to near break a man. It was feeling trapped in your own mind. Not being able to escape your own thoughts. Because no matter what you did to escape them... to distract y

My mind is a swirling vortex of confusion and despair, a black hole of emptiness that threatens to consume me whole. And so, I continue to walk, my steps heavy with the weight of my own despair, my heart aching with the knowledge that there may never be a way out of this endless cycle of self-destruction. For now, at least, I am resigned to my fate, a prisoner of my own mind and the darkness that lurks within.
