Bored and restless, I wandered from room to room, searching for something to occupy my mind. In Bella’s room, I spotted a book on her nightstand—Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas. I had heard good things about it, so I decided to give it a shot. I curled up on her bed, diving into the pages. For a while, it worked—I was able to lose myself in the story and momentarily forget the unease tugging at me. But, of course, that didn’t last long.

“Never.” “Hey, if neither of us wants to sleep with each other, then what’s the problem?” He sounded serious. “I really want to get rid of my insomnia. As for me… to be honest, I don’t have anyone I can comfortably touch or let touch me to fix my insomnia, according to what I read in a book.” For once, he looked desperate. She found him in the library at eleven o'clock on a Friday night, which was not something she had anticipated. This way I don’t have to carry books everywhere, but I always have something readily available. The books I keep by my bed are ones that I want to read, but can sometimes be a bit slow in parts, so they help me fall asleep. I’m currently reading “Les Misérables” by Victor Hugo. It’s an amazing book, but some of the details can be a bit much. I’ve always preferred fiction, but some parts of Les Mis read more like a history textbook, perfect for those nights I need help falling asleep.

The Book of Curse, with its foreboding aura, seemed to cast a spectral presence in the recesses of her mind. The bookstore appeared small from the outside, but the interior space was quite spacious, filled with an abundance of vintage books, particularly focused on technology and astronomy. Leah roamed around downstairs and by the counter, she noticed an old-fashioned piano.

"Two? Twofold , or what? twin? It shouldn't be these! There are so large numbers of these bookstores just taking a gander at them, there is compelling reason need to hide them. Two what? I didn’t know if I could do that either. Annabelle climbed off my bed and threw away the popcorn bag, yawning hugely. “Sorry, I’d love to chat more, but I really need to get to bed. We have a speaker at the bookstore tomorrow, so I have to be there early.” “No problem,” I said. But as she shut out the lights and I lay back down, I found myself stuck staring up at the ceiling again, unable to sleep or get over my feelings of guilt.

I was just along for the ride. I walked into the bookstore, immediately assailed by the scent of flavored coffee. It was overpowering and smelled more like a Starbucks than a bookstore. I looked around, taking in the small seating areas arranged around the store, with bookshelves to provide a little privacy. I spotted Leila towards the back of the store in the science fiction section. I supposed that was a small guarantee we would be left alone for at least a short time. She was sitting in a chair, her hands in her lap and looking worried as hell. Judging by her appearance, she hadn’t gotten much more sleep than I did.
