I stroke her soft hair gently and tuck it behind her ears to get a good view of her face. A smile slipped out of my lips. She seemed so peaceful and fragile. The door flung open and the doctor walked in, he had in his hand a large book and a pen. “You’re awake,” his voice made Ariana flinch in her sleep. “Shush,” I said slowly, putting my finger against my lips. I sat up in the bed, trying to be careful enough to not wake her and the doctor jolted forward almost immediately. “Be careful!” He exclaimed but it wasn’t loud enough to wake Ariana, “You should be resting now.”

I leaned forward to fold my hands on the table. "The dreams are back." I said to him. He didn't have any worried look on his face and I felt relieved. "And?" Doctor Lopez asked, swirling on his chair. I wondered what he meant by the question and looked at him for clarification. "And?" I asked after him. "Do you have problems sleeping?" He asked me. Shaking my head, I waited for something hopeful. For him to say it was just dreams and nothing serious so that Gabrielle would believe it for real.

The bedroom door finally opened and the doctor came out. “She’ll be fine when she wakes up, she collapses due to fatigue and psychological strain. Looks like she’s been through a lot of stress lately, let her rest for a while. When she wakes up, feed her a lot of food and fruits, and I mean a lot.” The doctor said and Lucas glared at Dolph. “This one is on you, maybe you should sleep at the dark harbor tonight,” Lucas said threateningly. “I shall take my leave now, King Lucas. Please instruct the maids not to distract her and only attend to her when she’s awake.” The doctor said and left.

But it’s not good, either.” He paused, then asked gently, “Did you know he hasn’t been sleeping at night?” Scarlett blinked slowly and shook her head. The doctor sighed again. “That explains it. I prescribed him sleeping pills. Looks like he didn’t take them. He’s been running on fumes. Severe insomnia and mental strain... Honestly, the fact he held on this long is impressive.”

I’m going to give you some pain medication to control your movements as well as a light sedative. To help you go back to sleep.” Victor frowns at this. “Is this really necessary, doctor?” he asks. “I just woke up – there’s so much I need to catch up on.”

Chapter 10: It was 6 a.m and I was awake, eating away at the book. In normal circumstances, I wouldn't even be up at such an ungodly - yes, I said ungodly - hour but the medication the doctor had given me disturbed my sleeping cycle. Strangely, I didn't feel groggy nor tired- I just felt the intense need to occupy myself and what better way than to read. Except for a few, rare shuffles behind the door, the hospital was all quiet with most of the patients asleep. Making a new friend had taken my mind off of Dylan and I felt peaceful once more.

The doctor was a little alarmed when he was told by Jethro, who was afraid to look at Jethro's expression: “It's not a strong dose, it's just that she was so tired and sleepless for such a long time that she fell asleep so quickly.
