Then, as if something inside him snapped, he let out a furious howl.
His blood surged violently through his veins. Power exploded from within, shredding the fine fabric of his ceremonial suit. With a single leap, he slammed into the guards, knocking them aside, and tore through the wooden doors as if they were nothing more than paper.
The wind screamed past his ears as he ran.
And suddenly, he remembered the day we had fled together.
It had been a winter drenched in snow. My nose and eyes were red from the cold, yet I still pressed my warm palms against his frozen ears, trying to share what little heat I had.
