My name is Zara, 20 years old, and I was the one who suggested Truth or Dare. “Rules are simple,” I said with a mischievous grin. “No backing out. No chickening out. If you refuse, you drink.” Everyone cheered. The circle included my best friend Chloe, her boyfriend Marcus, my roommate Elena, the quiet but hot guy from my psych class named Liam, the athletic soccer player Derrick, the flirtatious party girl Sophia, and the mysterious transfer student Jax. The game started innocently enough. Chloe dared Sophia to do a body shot off Derrick’s abs. Laughter erupted as Sophia licked salt from his skin. Derrick dared Liam to confess his biggest crush. Liam blushed and admitted it was Elena.

“No. Explain it to me.” Emily chuckled. “Wow, you really don’t know? Okay…” She cleared her throat. “So, we take turns. When it’s your turn, I’ll ask you, ‘Truth or Dare?’ If you pick truth, you must answer any question I ask you. If you pick dare, then I’ll give you a task to do and you must do it. No skipping. Same goes for me.” Denovon nodded slowly, taking it in. “Alright. I get it.”

Rounds kept rolling—truths spilling out about secret crushes and awkward boners in public, dares like chugging a mystery drink that turned out to be straight vodka mixed with hot sauce. I stuck to truths mostly, dodging the weirder ones, but the teasing ramped up. "Angela's playing it safe," Sarah jabbed, winking at me. "Come on, live a little!" Then Tyler's turn to dare someone, me again, because of course. He leaned forward, elbows on his knees, that dominant glint in his eye making my pulse quicken. What's he gonna throw at me? "Dare, Angela? Or pick truth if you're scared." I scoffed, lifting my chin up.

And even if he'll recognize me, he won't have the tiniest bit of idea that I know what he did. "Why are we just sitting? Let's play a game...common" A red haired guy said, grabbing the attention of everyone. Everyone agreed with his idea. Well, except me who didn't know what to say. "What game are we playing then?" Another guy asked, he was sitting three people at the guy I saw jerking off at the bath, the left I mean. "A daring game..." The red haired guy said and they all agreed. "No limits to the dares, but no death dares are allowed" he gave the rules and they all nodded.

“That’s… that’s kind of personal, isn’t it?” “It’s truth or dare,” Graham said. “No backing out.” “Yeah, we all answered our questions,” Maya added, though her tone was gentle. Andrea laughed nervously. “I don’t think I can—” “You can,” Lily said with a teasing smile. “Or you can choose dare instead.” Andrea’s mind raced. If she picked “dare,” they would only make it worse, but if she told the truth, chaos might erupt. She just knew her heart was beating too fast, and Liam’s quiet gaze wasn’t helping.

"What kind of game?" Nicole shrugged, and I suddenly got the feeling this was possibly a scripted encounter. "I don't know, how about Dares in a Hat?" Miranda walked over, "Dares in a Hat? What's that? Is it anything like Truth or Dare?" Now I knew this must have been scripted. Or at least planned. But why? "It is, but instead of picking who to ask, you draw names out of a hat or bowl. And it's Dares only, no Truths," Nicole said.

“Truth or Dare?” Dave asked... “Uh...” If I go with a dare, they might ask me to do something I didn’t want to do, I mean... That’s what dare is all about right? “I’d go with the truth..” “The person you have feelings for... Is he in our midst?” He asked. I choked. I looked at all of them. It was like their eyes were penetrating me... Especially Austin’s. “Uh..” “You choose truth so you have to say the truth,” Jake said.

“I’m dead serious. Trust me, this version of truth or dare won’t be anything like the one you played in middle school.” “At least, I hope not,” he adds, chuckling. It’s an absurd suggestion, but I have to admit I’m intrigued. Apparently I’m not the only one. “What are the rules?” Jesse asks. “First of all, no truths. Just dares. In every round, every person gets to dare one other person to do something. At the start of the round, everybody wagers something.” “Like a buy in?” I ask. Axel nods and continues. “Your dare can be anything, but if the other person backs out, they can call your bluff.”

“Well, damn. I didn’t know it was that long.” “Still sexy?” I whispered. “Even more so,” he growled. “Your turn.” I looked right back at him. “Truth or dare?” “Truth.” “Boring,” Ryan laughed. “Whatever, dare.” Crap, I didn’t have a dare, only more truths I wanted to hear. Or at least, that I thought I wanted to hear. “Fine, I dare you to tell me how it works.” “How what works?” I blushed. “You two, and, you know…”

“Wanna find out for sure?” Reid laughs, his smirk widening as both of them crack up. I splash them, shaking my head. “You two are awful. Seriously, Reid, that was the worst pickup line I’ve ever heard.” Reid shrugs, unbothered, and glances at me with an unreadable look in his dark eyes. “Your turn, Drea. Truth or dare?” I hesitate, knowing whatever he plans won’t be easy. “Dare,” I say finally, against my better judgment.
