I called out, my boots crunching against the gravel as I sauntered closer.
Tristan turned, slow and steady, like someone used to watching the world before reacting to it. His sharp jaw was dusted with stubble, his arms still gleaming from the sweat of his workout—or maybe emotional repression. Who’s to say?
He blinked. “Do I know you?”
“Not yet,” I said, folding my arms and grinning. “But I’ve seen you haul a tree, and I feel like that gives me enough intel to start a friendship.”
His brow twitched. “You’re Priscilla’s friend.”
