I refused to believe any of it.
“I need to get out of here. I need to meet with Marcus. He must have been worried sick. And the nationals. I’ve got to start preparing. How long was I here for?” I asked, ripping out the drip attached to my wrist when a loud gasp screeched free from my mother.
“Jesus Christ, Theo! You need to rest, please, son,” she pleaded, holding me back in place as Marcus cleared his throat.
“Eight months, Theo. You’ve been in a coma for seven months, and only a month ago the doctors claimed you were stable and could wake any moment. It’s been seven months,” Marcus explained, his voice breaking down each moment he spoke, and my heart shattered right on cue.
